This has been my favorite class and favorite professor of the semester. If you are not an anthro major, have no interest in the topic, do not like to read, or only need to fill a credit, then take something else. This class is pretty lecture heavy, but they had structure and she is EXTREMELY knowledgeable about her field and has great insight.

Awful. She mumbles in class and I could not piece together what she was talking about. None of the information she talked about were on the two exams(make up your whole grade). Her TAs were very unhelpful and graded harshly for no reason. For a gen ed, this class was terrible.

Babbled on during lectures, didnt actually have prepared slides. Incredibly hard to follow. Made the whole midterm easy and based on the textbook then made the final based on random stuff she said in class. Im sure shes a great anthropologist, but not a good professor

I have her for Anthro 166 and she's the most unorganized professor I've ever had. If you're using a laptop in class you have to email her your notes and she will randomly assign papers that are completely useless Her lectures are really boring you don't learn much from her and we've only had the midterm which was bad. Avoid her class at all costs.

Dr. Ferradas cannot facilitate discussions, instead she lectures for over an hour and good luck not falling asleep. It would be bearable, but she is so disorganized when it comes to grading assignments. The amount of confusion the first couple weeks over what was due was insane. And she doesn't grade it until the very end. Avoid at all costs.

Class is really boring. Allowed 2 absences. Must do readings if you want to do well, but there are so many readings to do. She just stands in front of the class and lectures so it is easy to get lost if you don't pay attention. Midterm and final are take home essays. Would not recommend this class because it's boring and too many readings per week.

Dr. Ferradas is very helpful and knowledgeable! She is a good lecturer with a vast wealth of information. She expects students to READ, so if you do the reading, not just a quick 'rush' through it, but, really look for the main points then you will do well. She is helpful and very nice too! She teaches some very cool courses, like Global Food ..

Some people are not mean to be teachers and she is one of them. Does not know how to facilitate a discussion, disparages people for their opinions, and is completely disorganized. She did not give us the due date for the paper until the week before (despite NUMEROUS requests from us). Don't take her courses unless you absolutely must.

Professor Ferradas is amazing and has a lot to teach students. You need to read the material and discuss the issues at hand: not hard unless you are lazy. It was a pleasure to take this class. I recommend any of her courses for serious students: those who don't care, don't waste everyone else's (or the professor's) time.

This class required a lot of reading that was not so interesting or useful for the class. She is not the best lecturer but if you need help she will answer your questions. She doesn't respond to her email so don't bother to try. The class was boring but not that hard to get through if you go every other class.

class topics were interesting however the class was awful. She is not a very good teacher at all but the work was not bad at all. I did the minimal amount of work and ended up with a B. a 62 on the first test resulted in a B+ meaning the whole class did poorly and she curves alot.

This had the potential to be a great class. However the professor failed to engage students. She would lecture for the hour and a half session while students ached in boredom. She would have the nerve to act annoyed when ever students appeared to be un-intrgued. Grossly late when returning grades. Unresponsive to emails. No real written hw.

SHE IS AN EXTREMELY BORING TEACHER. All she does is talk all the time and does not engage the students AT ALL. there are way too many books necessary for class. This class is nothing like what the description implied. she never responds to her emails. she never gives us the readings on time nor does she grade the work on time.

Prof. Ferradas has a lot of knowledge to share but is not a professor for the typical SUNY student. If you are one of those kids that tries to skim by you should avoid her courses. Take any of her courses however, if you are a diligent student who aims to learn a great deal of highly useful, up to date, and unique information.

This class was highly useful. There was a lot of reading and it did seem like she was unprepared/disorganized much of the time, but she was reasonable if you talked to her about deadlines. Overall it was well worth the confusion. It was probably one of the only informative and up to date courses I have had the opportunity to take at BU.

Knows her stuff well, but is often unprepared. Not very helpful. VERY SLOW AT GIVING PAPERS BACK. reading is worthless; you don't have to really do it. skips around a lot on different subjects. i feel like she barely talked all semester and all the classes were student presentations. takes attendance. a smart person, but a terrible professor.
