Took online and it was difficult at first because the Learn system had a lot of glitches; however, she stood with us every step of the way. Shes very understanding and great Spanish teacher, yet she speaks clearly English, she does have a small accent and some words shes doesnt know. Tons of extra credit, I mean eight events.

It was a great class to take over summer. As long as you read the literature, you will do fine on tests and discussions.

Comment:
I took this online class, and it was one of the most horrible classes I have taken. The writing prompts and test lacked clarity and created confusion. There was little to no feedback since she grades so slow which is bad because it doesn't allow you to see where you need to improve. She was also just awful at responding to emails.

Profesora Holguin-Chaparro is one of the best Spanish professors at the University of New Mexico. As long as you go to class, participate, and do what is asked of you, you will pass. She is incredibly knowledgeable and kind. If you have the opportunity to take her, do it! You won't regret it.

Probably the best Spanish professor I've had at UNM. She is head of the Spanish and Portuguese Department, so she has high expectations. She is very friendly and strict with her work. I highly recomend Professor Holguin-Chaparro.

Carmen is an amazing professor, she is very helpful in regards to all assignments. She only allows two unexcused absences per semester before she starts deducting attendance and participation points. Overall she has been the best instructor I've taken in the UNM spanish department over the last 3 years. Definitely this class is a must.

Very nice, and will help you if you need it. Fair grader. Is a native Spanish speaker and speaks very quickly. I had trouble understanding her at first but got used to it. Not very hard, just show up and pay attention, do the assignments because you get quizzes on the homework.

Carmen is very interesting. Her passion for literature of all types is obvious, and the only time she uses the book is having you read the literature itself. She's very helpful if you ever need to talk to her, and has always accepted my assignments when emailed to her. Participation is key.

Carmen is one of the best teachers at UNM. She loves spanish literature with a passion and she is also funny. The class isnt hard, but if you dont attend you will lose many quiz points. She is fluent and speaks clearly and rapidly, so if you have mastered spanish, this is the class for you. Overall an A is highly possible. I highly recommend!
