She was a pleasant and fair prof. I found the class to be a little boring but it didn't have anything to do with her as a prof. She's nice and sweet and I'm glad I got her as a prof.

Comment:
Carol is a kind prof, she's very easy to talk to but hard to reach face-to-face outside of class. The work is simple but the lectures are a little boring and dry, she often just reads from the passages. Majority of the time it's hard to stay awake and engaged. You could stay home and do the reading and only miss a little bit of the analysis.

She's great! The works she chose were interesting and diverse. Is very sweet and encourages group discussion. I never did the textbook readings but if you're new-ish to the subject, make sure to do it because she marks according to the textbook instructions. Only one test, 4 essays, flexible with topics you want to do. Often brought food to class:)

Carol is a kind prof, she often goes above and beyond (if you're willing to work for it) to meet with students to improve one-on-one, and gives beyond excellent feedback regarding assignments. Having said that, the lectures are dry, she often just reads from the book. While the lectures are essential, it is so hard to stay awake and engaged.

Lectures were dry, although she sometime brought food. She's a nice person alright, but a tough professor for sure. She's the kind of prof that only a small amount of students can do well with. TOUGH MARKER. Long lectures. Would not recommend the course, unless you really love children's books and can abide to paper instructions 100%.

She has very unorganized lectures. She spends the entire lecture summarizing all of the readings, instead of giving a clear outline on what they mean. She also assigns a lot of readings with a textbook different from hers (with no pages numbers indicated). Rarely there too help. Excepts way too much from students out of a second year course.

Professor Acton is very nice and approachable. I had my Literary Criticism course with her and taking another course of hers next term. She has very good taste in choosing the works we covered. For someone who is interested in good literature and is always looking for new material, her classes are awesome. I would take a course with her again!

Professor Acton is a really sweet lady and marks fairly easy. I was not interested in war literature at all before I took her class but she actually managed to engage me. It's easy to get through the class without reading all of the assigned books but it is important to look closely at the ones you do read.

She was OK. Did OK on the first essay, then did really well on the next one. There were a lot of readings but I didn't read most of it (You dont have to). The final exam is an essay on a topic, she gives multiple poems/stories to choose from. Overall OK course. I did well.

The class is interesting, she made a good choice of book to read and she has a lot to say on them plus all the context stuff. She is also very helpful, approachable and accommodating with extensions. Overall, I like the class and the teacher.

I am grateful that teachers of her calibre still teach at the University. I returned to take a few courses after a decade away and she made it easy to slip into the dialogue and chose excellent readings for her course on Autobiography. Thanks to her, I have a better appreciation for my degree.

20th Century English Lit. An interesting course taught by a friendly, approachable, helpful prof. It probably helps that part of the course was on her specific field of study.

She was okay I guess. She was nice enough and didn't seem very difficult. But the course (ENGL 119) is pointless. And for teaching a communication course, her lecturing skills are average at best. Lectures have nothing valuable, and students just stop going. Also gives hours of assigned readings that won't help your mark at all.

Nothing is learned in her lectures. All work is done in the tutorials taught by other teachers. Many people stop even going to the lectures as they don't pertain to the assignments or course at all. Although the course was easy, I am giving her a poor rating, as she has no impact on your education.

Ummm, this is a perfect example of a prof with a "bubble gum" degree. Case in point: she preaches good communication skills as described by the book that she herself does not follow. A trained ape could do her job. Poor form.
