She's a great professor and very knowledgeable about her field. She is willing to challenge and weed out students who cause a ruckus. She's very willing to help you if you need it and is accessible outside of class given she isn't teaching through email or her office. One negative is she doesn't use BlackBoard. Get ready to read and write.

In my experience, I find that if you do your readings, write the papers as directed (or ask questions if you're unsure about how to write something) and generally show interest and initiative, the class will go relatively easily for you. If you don't care to do the work, you can expect the same level of care in return from her.

I consider myself extremely fortunate to have had the experience of being in Professor Kushner's class. She was informative and entertaining. I learned to write a better paper. I attribute my success this summer at the Vassar ET transfer program to the instruction that I received from Professor Kushner.

She is very professional teacher. I am second language student and she encourage me to read and write more and i did very good in her class. Was not easy, you need to attend class, not use cell, listen to her and love to write as she ask you to do and you will be fine.

Literally the worst professor I've ever had in my college career. I wish I took the advice of these reviews and switched classes when I had the chance. Her lectures are just her ranting about whatever is on her mind that day, and the papers are rarely on anything useful. She was 5-45 minutes late every day and was rude. Do NOT take her if you can.

Carol Kushner has a wide base of knowledge, and so brings a lot of new meaning to the class. I loved her a lot. She wanted me to have the best experience possible. When I was having a hard time, she asked if I was OK, and that meant a lot to me.

She was a great professor when I took her classes. She really pushed me to get the best grade possible, and I am thankful for that. She helped me get a few of my short stories published and gave me a letter of recommendation to finish my undergrad at a local college. She is a professor that I will not forget.

Hoo boy! Where to begin? Let me just say, Dutchess has a wide variety of great professors, but she is NOT one of them. She's late every single day and never lets you out on time. She gets angry easily, and is incredibly snobbish and condescending. She grades your papers based not on your arguments, but simply on whether she agrees with your thesis.

If your a lazy jerk who doesn't take the time to at least read a summary of a story or book assigned then this class isn't for you. However, If you are not lazy and don't mind college level reading then take this class. She is a wonderful women and helped me grow as a person even if she doesn't know it (or remember me.) I love her.

Dont take this class. It will demotivate your college expirence and ultimately make you lose faith in yourself as an developing student. I ripped apart and slaved days of my time twoards something I would call one of my Top 5 essays ive ever done in life, while students just goofed off and others got B's. Shes late, biased and hateful. Dont do it

I'm not an English major but it is not a subject I find difficult. That said when I received a B on my first essay I was floored. Kushner knew I could do better and expected more of me. Under her tutelage I definitely improved and passed the class with an A. It is possible, you just have to work for it and be engaged in the class.

I took three 200 level courses with Ms. Kushner and I am not an English major. She gives 1 piece of paper (a reading list) and u write 4 short papers for her. U read at home (which is fun) and talk about it like a book club in class. She's a breeze, honestly. A laid back class. She gives As if you contribute and have fun writing. (15hrs per paper)
