Dr. Mathur isn't as bad as I thought she'd be. Tests can be difficult but lab isn't that bad and I actually enjoyed going to it. Class is mandatory, you lose points everyday you don't show up or participate in a class. All in all, not a bad class, I'm taking her again next semester.

Comment:

She is very unhelpful, makes you feel stupid when you try to ask questions. Tests are very hard and have a lot of chapters on them. Make sure to study ALL of the definitions in the end of the chapter. Unless you really like this kind of information I would recommend not taking this class.

I took her for micro lab (not lecture). She is the definition of scatter brained. Doesn't tell you what you need to know for anything. Unclear. Rambles. Not helpful. Confusing. I followed the lab manual and asked the lab assistants for help. I did well bc I'm very anal, thorough and detailed, not bc of her in any way. Don't take her

She teaches off power point. you think the test are going to be easy, but they're HARD and in-depth/detailed. Attendance is mandatory, and articles due every Friday. A 15 min presentation and 2 IMRAD papers due. doesn't really tell you whats on there and grades tough. besides that shes a very lovely lady and a nice person!

I had Dr. Mathur twice as a sub for Dr. Bair and Barb Taylor. WHEW! What a mess! Keep in mind she's subbing for a class she teaches - completely scatter-brained. Gave us wrong information and basically put us a week behind in lab (and Taylor was unforgiving of that!). Skip her and take Dr. Bair. Bair moves at a fast pace, but has it 'together'

Micro in general is hard. Mathur doesn't makes it harder. HORRIBLE prof! She's in her own world most of the time. Quizzes are worth as much as tests. She's just not a good teacher. PPTs useles, don't bother to print them out. Be prepared to devote your life to this class! Unfortunately, I think she's your only option for micro.

She's nice, but I didn't learn a darn thing from her. She expects you to know the info that she does not talk about, and it will show up on the test. She doesn't teach, she just wants you to memorize practically every table in the book, and her PPT's are useless. All she does is put the tables on her PPT slides. She isn't willing to compromise.

dr. mathur is very nice but she seems scattery at times. since it was a new class she was experimenting a lot. she expected a little more knowledge on her tests than she went over. i'm hoping for a C in the class

She is so nice, and she really wants to help you do well. Do the extra credit, it can really help. If you have questions, ASK! She is so nice about it, and doesn't make you feel like a fool. Tests are kind of random though.

Microbiology is not an easy course but Dr Mathur gives you every advantage.Do the extra credit, it's not that hard and it really helps your grade.Quizzes are easy if you study what she tells you to. Tests are harder but not too aweful if you study.I did the study guides, did the extra credit, studied, and read the book and Got an A.Does take effort

dr. mathur is very laid back.she teaches off of ppt slides, so the lectures are very boring. tests are fairly hard, but if u study class notes and read chapters, not too bad. study guides are a waste of time, don't do them. go to lectures though, thats where she gets her test questions.easy quizzes

she cracks me up!! she's really laid-back with the class and makes the funniest jokes. primarily teaches off from powerpoint slides. you definitely have to study for her exams and read/study alot from the text, but it's a very interesting course.

Mathur is interesting. Tests can be tricky, read the book, do the vocab and extra credit. Shes a little unorganized. If i had to i would take her again. Its microbiology..not overly interesting info. Dont give up it goes by quick. Study!

Comment:

Great class, interesting lectures. Mathur is hilarious and is good at explaining concepts to students. Very helpful since you can do a lot of extra credit, useful in boosting exam grades. Exams are easy but hard, easy topics, extremely tricky questions-mult choice, be sure to not overanalyze!!

I thought she was a great teacher and a genuinly nice lady. It wasn't overly easy but come on, its microbiology. She thoroughly explained things and offered lots of extra credit. Tests were fair. I would definitely take her again.

Well, I'm not sure why she has all these bad ratings. I think she is a good, funny teacher, and she pretty much tells you everything you need to know in lecture. I like her laid-back teaching style. Tests are pretty easy/fair.
