Dr. Johnston is very sweet and passionate about anthropology. The class is a lot of textbook reading because her lectures are confusing at times. The tests and quizzes are easy, the labs are nothing special. That being said, the class is an easy A as long as you show up.

Biological anthropology. The labs are fun, but the lectures are nearly unbearable (very long and dry). She can be a bit combative with students who challenge her knowledge (pre meds!). She also takes issue with the textbook itself which is a little disconcerting since she assigns lengthy readings and homework from it.

A lot of lectures and kind of boring. The class wasn't that hard if you understand the underlying concepts. This class also has labs and those are mandatory as well.

awful teacher, does not encourage learning. If you ask a question, she just makes you feel like an idiot. Can not teach. Pretty much just rambles for two hours straight. Don't think she even knows what she's talking about.

She is one of the worst professors I have ever had. Avoid her and her classes at all costs. She is a VERY tough grader and expects you to know everything. Don't even try to ask questions because she will make you feel stupid. Also this class comes with a lab and everything she assigns is hard.

I would highly recommend NOT taking this class. I was excited to take this as a gen ed but she ruined the class. She is very rude and makes you feel stupid. Her grading is ridiculous and her tests are hard. Study your notes not the study guide. Her lectures are extremely long and boring. She makes this class not worth it. Do NOT take as a gen ed.

She is the rudest professor I have ever been exposed to. She is not helpful, makes you feel stupid and forget about asking her for help. Her lectures are extremely boring and she has no enthusiasm.

Its an intro class and she expects you to know everything. If you ask any questions she gets mad at you and treats you like you're dumb. She is rude and always has something smart to say. Honestly reading the book teaches you more than she ever will and her lecture are pointless but she will talk the entire 2 hours. I do NOT recommend taking her.

Very arrogant and bitter. Mind-numbing 2 hour lablectures. Makes you come back after taking the test and takes attendance again. Knows the information, but expects too much of students. Too many concepts on one tests. The labs can be interesting, but rarely will you be fascinated by her boring lectures. Generally dismissive of students' questions.

Imagine someone plopping @50 scholarly articles on your coffee table, along with a textbook, some cds wlabs, and then saying, "there's your work for the semester." That's her, and that's this class. Tests are from *everything. Lectures are a snooze, no real explanation of concepts or difficult terminology. Ant101 should be Ant 501.

Dr. Johnston is extremely knowledgeable and anyone can tell that this is her world. Unfortunately, this certainly was not mine. My advice is to have a working knowledge of biology, avoid missing class, and make sure you reach out to her if you're struggling. She takes student success seriously and will work with you during her office hours!

Takes the class way too seriously. The tests are difficult, the class is mandatory, and the lecture is extremely boring. 3 text books about different subjects make the class difficult to study for and she acts as though students should know everything. Its very difficult to pay attention , as she trails off when she's speaking.

Dr. Johnston is a great teacher, her classes are cake as long as you put in the effort. She posts a study guide on D2L which follows the book to a "T". Perfect attendance gets you bonus points, and she offers extracredit on all of her tests based on articles and books she makes available to you. If you have an interest in anthro take her for class.

I cannot stand this teacher. She thinks she is better than you and treats you as if you should know everything there is to know about anthro. She is rude and disrespectful. It might seem to her that she is helping you, but she comes across as a mean, arrogant old lady. She is so boring! Do not take this class

Dont take this class. She teaches one thing and tests you on a completely random thing. This class will probably be the only C on my transcripts. DROP TO SAVE YOUR GPA. Im a bio major, why do i need to know about anthropology?

Dr. Johnston is pretty good, but you MUST read the text book b/c she does expect you to know the information when you come into class but if you do the readings its not that hard and doing the online quizzes really helps on tests. and the labs are annoying but its better than straight lectures

I had this class at 8 in the morning, so that may have been why i didnt like it, but shes a good teacher. Im just not interested in the subject material. She is helpful but you have to read the textbook. She gives study guides which has pretty much everything needed for the test. Its an easy class, its just a little boring.

I took biological anthropology with Dr. Johnston and really enjoyed it. The labs aren't always exciting, but the textbook is actually pretty interesting. Her class is difficult, but if you stay on track with your reading and prepare for the tests then you will do well.

She is not clear and acts like you are a professional anthropologist and should know everything already. She doesnt have any ethusiasm for the subject and always seems unprepared and makes you feel stupid and more confused when you ask her for help and has a short temper. I dont like her as a teacher.
