She's a pretty solid prof but she really rushes through everything she says. I don't think she's trying to speed through class, it almost seems like she's nervous. Overall, pretty nice but she needs to learn how to use the internet. Posting grades on her door/at the front of class is a thing of the past!

Prof is caring about students and very helpful during her office hours. The multiple choice may seem tricky but it is meant to really test your knowledge and ability to apply the material. Test material heavily reliant on lecture notes (I thought so), so be sure to pay attention in lectures and understand the concepts.

Dr. McFarland is among the best professors I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. She's tremendously knowledgeable, cares about her students a great deal, is a highly effective lecturer, and I love how helpful she is when I approach her during office hours! Definitely a wonderful prof. P.S. I agree with the post below that Duncan is an awesome TA.

Cathy is a wonderful proff, who is truly passionate about teaching and her students. The course material isn't so interesting, however she made a good attempt at keeping us engaged. I enjoyed her strict nature (interupting chatty people in the class). She is very organized and makes the extensive research project very easy to follow =)

Dr. McFarland has a hard job of making a very dull subject interesting. She's very knowledgeable, clear, and organized. There's a ton of work for this course (project, midterm, final, reviews). But she scales her exams up by a lot, half the class receives a B- or higher. Take it because you have to & take it with her. (TA: Duncan was great)

Don't bother reading the chapter on ethics because this prof could care a less about what's ethical. The research requirement for this class is extremely unethical. CATHY, you are forcing your students to participate in research by giving them a boring alternative (reading articles and summarizing them)

Cath's organization is impeccable! Her lectures are crystal clear and very well organized! She's a great speaker and keeps you engaged throughout lecture. Her exams are all MC and can therefore be tricky, but if you attend lecture and keep up with your readings you will be fine. Put a lot of effort in your research project, its the big one!

This class is very boring, as can be expected. The midterm was ok, a bit tricky sometimes. The research project is the big one. Lots of work, make sure to start on that early for sure!

She makes things clear in the lecture and most of the materials are related to the text, that's why some people find it boring. She tries to make the questions complicated to test if you are really clear with the terminology, not too hard though. The research project is more important, and be careful with choosing the TA. Mike is good!

BORING! You`ll probably have to take this course and don`t expect McFarland to make it interesting or easy. The exams are tough, all multiple choice, and the lectures are too boring to stay awake, especially at 8:30am.
