When I thought about what college classes would be like, this one came the closest to my expectations. She is tough and challenging, but at the same time she doesn't talk down to you. She assigns great reading and wants to hear what your views are about them. Be prepared to work, but it pays off.

Her sense of humor is beyond grating, but she's brilliant, a pleasure to talk to, and it's hilarious to watch students talk in class and honest to god think she agrees with them. She's definitely judging you, but you'll be better off for it in the end.

Dr. Scott is an incredibly funny and informative professor. She's not too strict on attendance, but I recommend going and actively participating in class because she will remember you. She's a tough grader so if you have an assignment I suggest running it by her in its early stages to see if you have the right idea and if it fits her criteria.

Dr Scott makes fun of students with another student behind their back! How unprofessional. She is extremely judgemental. On the positive side she is funny and her class has some interesting readings.

I think she grades fairly and is very approachable. I do not like many professors at Agnes, but having her for four of my political science classes really made the crazy professors worth it in the end.I think she is my favorite college professor and is well worth the extra work, and her humor is priceless! If you turn in your work you will be fine.

Dr. Scott is brilliant, but unfortunately needs an education class. She's inconsistent with grading and changes the syllabus a lot. Laugh at her jokes, be a liberal, and revise your papers, you'll probably get a B+. Oh, and she's really, really big on classroom participation, so raise your hand often! Overall, she's not my favorite, but not bad.

Unless you laugh at her bad jokes and get past a b. I was excited about the course cuz it was about politics in south africa but she turned the whole course into Nelson Mandela. She has a crush on him and thinks he is like the premiere black man to watch. We read mandelas autobiography and then a book that talked about the autobiography. BORING!

You'd have to be completely infantile not to appreciate this class and this professor. If I were in your shoes (sadly, I'm not) and getting ready to add a class, it'd be this one.

Ok; listen up: if you don't like to be intellectually challenged, don't take a cathy scott class. Otherwise, please do. This woman, if I may, is one of the best professors at ASC. She is hilarious, intellectually engaging, and just a downright delight. You don't want to miss a Cathy Scott class.

Great class, greater prof. Covered a wide range of issues and hit a lot of essential texts from a diverse group of feminist authors. I've never had class discussions like these before; high level of interest from most people in the group. If you hear a negative review, consider the source; some people just can't handle requests to think deeply.

Absolutely amazing prof. If you're struggling to read basic English, don't like to think, or have a bad sense of humor, don't take this class. But if you're up for a bit of a challenge, like interesting and important things, aren't an idiot, and like to integrate academic humor into your everyday life, take a Cathy Scott class. You won't regret it.

I thought the class would be great, South African Politics. Unfortunately, she never taught the class- students were "presenting" the reading every class. If you aren't sucking up to her, don't expect a grade reflective of your work. She decides you are a certain grade student early on, and then gives you the same grade on everything from there.

Dr. Scott is a tough grader, and sometimes she let's her sense of humor carry her away in class. But she knows what she is talking about and she wants you to learn.

I keep hearing she's brilliant but she doesn't really teach. Granted, it's her first FYS but it was a waste of everyone's time. Most of what we wrote were film analyses and summaries of biased and poorly written articles. It's an uphill battle; she grades papers based on the way she would've written them. And she think's she's so funny--she isn't.

I had Dr. Scott for my first year seminar and so far this class has been kind of ridiculous. Its not so much the way she teaches as what she is teaching ( and thats saying something as she designed the course).

Dr. Scott is truly a fountain of knowledge! Her Comparative Politics course was very stimulating, and I feel that I walked away knowing A LOT! Her exams were very demanding, and she didn't always give feedback that explained why I had lost points. But overall, I enjoyed her course very much!

Everyone seemed to love Dr. Scott and, while she was amusing and interesting, I felt she wasn't really interested in her students. She's not very approachable and kind of intimidating, which I hated. Her class was challenging and I learned a lot though. You need a serious interest in political science.
