Nice lady however very unorganized. She has several platforms for listing homework and it can get very confusing. She cares too much about GMOs and a majority of the class is focused on them. She stacks her essays back to back.

Attendance matters. I did not enjoy her class. She seemed nice but you'll succeed if you dont go against her pov on writing essays.

She doesn't teach how to write better. She relies on the students to give each other advice when most of the class aren't advanced in writing. Most of the work is based on this book about GMOs.

Her class was very difficult for me, but I actually enjoyed it. Make sure you read everything she asks for at least twice and make sure you have a very clear understanding of what you are reading. She is against GMO's so do not make her angry haha.

Ornelas is a good professor. Like other comments said, she is a hard grader, but if you talk to her and be friends with her, she'll help you out a lot. She has a good heart and won't destroy your grade if she sees that you're trying. She was my favorite professor of my freshman semester. With that said, give the class the time and you will pass.

Don't take Ornelas! She only teaches about GMO's and food safety. She gave the whole class a D- on the first essay. Hard grader. If you don't agree with her opinions, you won't pass her class. Class is made out of only 100 points so if you do bad on one essay your chances of getting an A are out the window. Although she does offer extra credit.

She is extremely disorganized when I took her my first semester. When she graded my essays, she would leave really generic remarks that does not tell me what I should fix. Luckily I passed with a B although on her grading it said I deserved a C. Everyone got a curved I guess. The reading aren't hard but she expects you to read how she reads.

During lecture, we will discuss on the readings we were assign and she will offer extra credit that you will submit online. Also there is only four essays that she assign which were pretty easy. Overall, she was there to discuss homework and help on anything that you were not unsure.

Heavily dislikes of GMOs, chemicals, animal farms, and scientific research. Very supportive of chakra, pranic healing, and alternative medicine. You won't enjoy this class if you go against her views. Don't expect to learn to become a better writer in this class, as English lectures are non-existent. All lectures based around health/agriculture.

I did not enjoy her class and I honestly didn't learn much from her. We worked on thesis statements more than anything else. She had really strong opinions and was not interesting in having it questioned by anyone. She didn't encourage students to write on their opinion, but reiterate HER opinion. Most of the other students in the class suffered to

Changes her syllabus too often. 4 Essays the whole semester given, 1 group essay. Gives a lot of Thesis statement extra credit opportunities. Not very clear when she tries to aid the class or unclear on events/due dates. Book IS mandatory to pass!

Professor Ornelas is REALLY passionate about what she teaches.. She's a tough grader but is understanding and offers up to 10 points extra credit. This class asks for a lot of your time (especially the group essay). I learned a lot from this class but I would recommend a different teacher. Good luck.

She is an okay teacher, she isn't respected at all by her students. She usually doesn't give much clarification unless you email her (and sometimes that also isn't clear.) You will get an email a night before an assignment is due, so you basically only get a couple hours to complete. I feel there are better english 101 teachers at CSUF.

Hard grader on essays. Makes you work for the grade. Makes you do a GROUP essay (not helpful AT ALL). But she does offer a lot of extra credit. As long as you're a better than average writer and do all the extra credit, you can get a B+A-. No curve. No TestsFinal. I took the GE Pathways Eng 101 though. You definitely need the book.

You will only pass if you get on her good side otherwise the best you'll get is a C. She is an EXTREMELY HARD GRADER and very confusing. If you get the chance to take this course with a different teacher don't hesitate to do so because this class is a stressful nightmare!

She's strict and a harsh grader. If you have other responsibilities besides eng 101, don't take her. You definitely have to earn your grade. She also assigns extra credit hw during the breaks that are vital to do if you want to get a decent grade on your essay.

She is the worse professor. She is very unorganized and unclear. She can tell you one day you're the best writer and she believes in you but then when she grades your essay she destroys it and gives a terrible grade. She doesn't teach she expects you to read in order to do the essays but gives little to no help on the readings. Don't take her

Prof Ornelas is really nice&if you need help just ask for it ahead of time and she'll make time for you. Honestly just make sure you do every little assignment she assigns and take advantage of all the extra credit she gives&you'll get an A. The txtbook is used thruout the whole semester so make sure you read, the excerpts are pretty interesting.
