I don't recommend anybody to take this class from this Prof. He plays in the life of students. He tells you in the beginning that he wants you to succeed, but that is not true; he works hard to test you to fail you.

Do not take this class. He tests you on how he knows the material, not on the material itself. This means be ready for tricky questions that do not measure your knowledge, only how well you can jump through hoops.

This class is very hard to get a good grade in, and I don't think I'd recommend it to non-psych majors. I took it in my first semester of my first year and it was honestly a mistake. HOWEVER! I've got to admitI really liked this class. I really learned a lot from Williams, and though he's tough on your grade, he's worth considering.

DO NOT take this class, unless you absolutely have to. I worked as hard as I possibly could and I did not even come close to doing well in this class. Not helpful, Doesn't care about your grade. Only talks about sections of the brain and the tests are basically straight memorization. Not a conceptual class in any way

I absolutely loved Professor Williams as a person, but he was the toughest professor I have ever had. He is hilarious, kind, caring, and his lectures are interesting. However, he packs so much information into every single lecture that if you look away for even a second its like you're now a couple slides behind. SO MUCH MEMORIZATION

Terrible. horrible. Do NOT take this class. The only way you can hope to get even a B is if you memorize everything from lectures, pointless diagrams, and the book. Seriously memorize EVERYTHING or you are screwed. Williams knows his stuff but doesn't know how to teach it.

This class was VERY difficult. Unless you enjoy detailed behavioral sciences, I would not take this class. Lectures are long and information PACKED; I found every lecture session to be very overwhelming. You have to memorize EVERYTHING for the tests.

He's really funny and I enjoyed the class. I am the type of student that would never miss a class and would always do HW. but this class was extremely impossible to get an A on. IT WAS HARD! He's a great person and a professor but ID NEVER want to take this class again. 2000+ level? More like 4000 : Oh and theres 4 long papers :(

Professor Williams was incredibly interesting and funny. I was never bored in his class. He had review sessions before tests where he'd answer any questions. Still, the tests were impossible to get an A on. There were five papers that were graded very easily. You really don't have to read the book at all. I loved this class!

His style of teaching is useless. He tries to incorporate elements of learning psychology into his ppts but doesn't include really any info he says in lecture on them. He puts pictures of his slides on exams and expects answers exactly as he says them in lecture. Just make sure you go above and beyond on homework. ALSO, YOU HAVE TO GO TO CLASS!

Stupidly hard for a 2000 level class. There's a reason he can't even fill half of Gilmer. Do not take unless you HAVE to.

Dr. Williams is a great professor and very invested in his work, but this class is close-to-impossible. The material is really interesting, but even if you attend every class and take vigorous notes, you're by no means guaranteed to do well whatsoever. This is a lot more medical-based Psych than Social, so I struggled a lot.

Quite literally one of the best professors I've had at UVa so far. I took this class my first semester at UVa, and if you go to class, do your homework, go to office hours and don't wait to get help, you're GUARANTEED an A. It does have some neurobiology, but nothing that can't be handled. Also makes himself available on appointment. Amazing class!

Pretty cool teacher and at first I thought the info would be boring, but if you pay attention, it's really neat. He goes really fast so you have to keep up. Tests are multiple choice and short answer, which can be tough, depending on how much you study. But I liked it and pretty well.

Way too hard for 200 level. I took neurobiology and it was cake compared to this class. Trick exam questions, book questions that only someone who does nothing but read that book all semester would get right. Slides not that helpful.

Williams attempts to make the material as clear as possible, though his slides are more distracting than helpful. Short answer questions on the test are killer so make sure you MEMORIZE a good portion of the material.

Good professor. Random bits of neural biology that isn't very well explained. The rest of the course was very clear with notes posted on the internet. Great course.

This class is fairly easy but not worth taking unless you're a psych major. Class is worthless as he posts lecture slides online and tests come almost directly from study guides that he provides. Less testing on concepts than on pointless details.
