Spectacularly unfair grader. First day of class he announces that under no circumstances will he consider regrades. Avoid him like the Plague

Lectures lack a coherent theme. No midterm, 3 in-class quizzes (12% of grade), term paper and a final. Literally provides 5 minutes for quizzes/mini essays--not even enough time to read through what you've written. Arrogant, he yelled at a student in class for not listening to him lecture

Great Lecturer. I really enjoyed his teaching style. Some people say that he is boring and doesn't prepare you for tests, but I've had worse teachers. This is a university, the professors don't hand your A to you you have to work for it. He was very helpful and interesting.

Some other reviews this this guy wasn't very interesting, but I'm gonna disagree. He's a vietnam vet who jsut recently got his PHD and I thought he w did a good job relating the material. Grade is based off of one huge research paper, and then one small in class final, so that was kind of a bummer, but still for a summer session class, pretty cool

The lectures were a bit boring. His powerpoints need more substance and you feel like you're listening to a book on tape. He gives you good study guides for the midterm and final, but is very particular on the grading. Just make sure you don't copy things from wikipedia and actually use events and terms from the context of the texts. (there's about 6 small books) He seems like a nice grandpa.

Comment:
Dr. Hammond's War and Revolution was an okay class. While the subject matter is interesting, his lectures are somewhat monotonous. Also, there is an incredible amount of reading, and the tests consist of essay questions and short ids that he has not gone over much in class. If you wikapedia terms that he has mentioned in passing he marks you down!

Painfully uninteresting. Anyone who could sit through his class without going into a coma is already dead. He is a dictator who talks about the evils of dictators. E.G, he tells everyone that he will not change the grade on a paper he has corrected... Infallable... He should be fired if he doesn't change his teaching style, and for wasting my life!

The Most boring professor ever. The only person capable of turning interesting subjects as War/Revolution and WWI into the most boringest subject ever. He's a nice guy but a horrible lecturer. If take him be prepared to be bored (and bring a Redbull...I did). He tried to be funny and makes some awful jokes and noone laughs at them except him...SAD
