Class had engineers come and speak to us about their jobs. Most were not good presenters and were very dry as a result. Dr. Reilly is VERY strict about getting to class on time!! The lab TAs were awesome, and the boat competition was a good experience to say the least.

Student's teacher. Gives online hw, 2 tests and an optional final. He doesn't like grading so doesn't like giving final. Grade based off of curve. He gives predicted grade based off 2 tests and final. Can can accept it and not take final or deny it and take final to try and improve grade.

Because of his curve, it's pretty easy to pass the class. I got a B+ but feel I hardly know anything about Statistics. We had to use a horrible HW program called WileyPlus that made me and most others even more confused. 3 hour class time left me learning nothing, I only went so that I knew what was covered to learn on my own later.

My hopes were high because Reilly is an awesome speaker, but his use of lecture time was poor. I have never been so thoroughly lost as I was during these lectures, and that's coming from someone who got an A. The only reason to go to class is to get a list of the topics covered so you can study on your own later.

someone in class once asked after first test, 'i did all the hw and took notes on everything and i still did poorly, what should i do' reily then suggested that finding outside resources or studying other text books other then the one we had may help. his test questions were grabbed from god knows where.

He likes to read off his power points and add extraneous thoughts on to them. He is very knowledgeable about the subject however the vast amount of learning will take place on your time when reading through the PPTs. He is a bit rude at times. Large curve at end of semester.

Dr Reilly was very well organized and an excellent speaker. He covered all the material in the syllabus. His tests were hard and there isn't any margin for error with 2 exams + optional final.I spent long hours working probs + hw & preparing for exams. The exams are curved but you can still fail. The class was structured well for the vast qty of mat.

He is one of the worst. His teaching method is the crappiest one ever. He is a very hard grader. He reads from the slides instead of writing down his materials and showing us how to do these hard problems from the SLIDES. How stupid is that? Whenever I take a course with him he makes me extremely frustrated. He is just the worst instructor ever.

You will be pretty busy if you take this class. Several group presentations are required. This is a required class if your in the M&S program, but if you aren't, its still worth taking. Our group's final paper was published at the 2006 I/ITSEC conference! Woohoo!!

This is a hard class, and he doesn't make it easier. Very Hard Tests. Good think is, that he will give a HUGE curve at the end, and the final is optional! 2 midterms: I got a 57 and a 78 and end up with A- after the curve.

Mixed bag. Class is difficult-ish, especially tests, but as long as you do better than everyone else, you'll do all right. Of 5 quizzes randomly given during the term, & like 10 homeworks, as long as you miss fewer than 3 quizzes and fewer than 4 HW's, you can opt-out of the final and take the grade you have before it - which is on a steep curve.

Thank God for being able to opt-out on the final. Do everything you can- go to every class, every recitation, ask questions in class, do ALL the homework (even the ones that are not required), write down examples, write everything he says in class (notes are bare-minimum) and **hopefully** you'll get out w/ a B and not having to take the final.

Dr.Rielly is a fun, slightly crazed, intelligent instructor. Do all the homework, etc. and you'll be alright. Tests are HARD, though. Know your stuff forwards and backwards. Also, everything is graded on a curve.

This class isn't easy, but Reilly makes it bearable. Lecture notes are only so-so, and the book he uses is worse. Do the short homework assignments, attend all the lectures, and study everything you can, until you can you do the homework in your sleep, and you'll at least score above average on the test. Nice guy too, and has a sense of humor.

Be on time for this class. He gives short quizzes that don't count much but essential so you don't take the final. Don't slip on the articles and turn in your homework. Biggest key is to stay average (or above) on test.

Awesome professor, the only guy that could actually make a 3 hour statistics class enjoyable. Grades on a very generous curve, do all the homework and quizzes and you'll never see a final. I passed with a B and all I had to do was keep with the average test grade.

He is a very effective teacher. He is more that willing to go over examples to solidify key material. Test are extremely difficult so keeping up with the pace of the class is important.
