His class is 7 papers, thats it. Half of them (min) are as lecture based as they are reading based, so go to class. but if you miss one or two its not the end of your grade. he us very understanding and just super kind. lectures aren't the most interesting but he is super knowledgeable. over all, you put in effort, you'll get the A. take him!!

SHINDO IS THE MAN. you really never have to go to class, although if you do it's not awful because he makes boring lectures interesting. There is no homework, just four papers for the class and his TA grades them. You can send them to the TA before the paper is due and they will tell you what to change for you to get an A. easy teacher and class.

HIST 2057 is a paper based class and Dr. Shindo requires that some of your citations be straight from the reading. READ YOUR BOOK! It will help you immensely. Attend lecture as much as possible, he is a great lecturer. Very accessible and helpful outside of class, would recommend.

Great lectures: tells them like they are a story. The information is discussed very clearly and is very interesting (the way he teaches it). The only problem is that the TA's grade the 4 papers (the only grades in the class) and do so very strictly. Need to go to class to get the background information for the papers. Highly recommend this class!

He only gives 4 papers. Each paper you write whether a certain time period is beneficial or detrimental. Go to office hours if you are worried you are not writing well! Don't read everything in the book. Skim the chapters to find what's relevant to your topic. Even though his class isn't mandatory, his lectures are engaging.

For History 2057, you don't have to show up to class but you need to in order to have information for essays. He only has four essays that you have to complete. Really nice guy and he's always willing to help. His lectures are great and never boring.

Shindo is such a nice man. He is super caring, and his class is easy. Attendance is not mandatory, but I found his lectures interesting and helpful. Only grade is 4 papers that are pretty simple. Email him a rough draft, and he will help you correct it and give you tips. I really enjoyed his class, and would definitely take another one.

I really enjoyed his class. There are no exams or extra homework - you only have to do 4 total essays for the course. You do need to use the textbook for the essays, but the textbook is like $31. You can also get away with not attending lectures since most of the sources for the essays are in the book, but I personally enjoyed his lectures a lot.

Professor Shindo is so nice. Lectures can get a little boring, but you can tell he really cares what he is teaching. Class if only 4 papers, but if you try and take notes you'll probably make it out with at least a B+. Great guy, a real homie.

People say its hard to make As but thats not true. If you come to class and actually take good notes, you will do fine. The TA and Shindo tell you exactly what they want out of the paper, and he even lets you email him a draft to give you feedback. The people who barely come to class are the ones who dont make good grades on essays. Take Shindo!

Shindo has great lectures but they are not mandatory. He and one other TA graded our papers (which was all that we had for grades in that class). They graded pretty harshly but you can go talk to them about your grade in order to have them explain why you received what you did. No tests or homework just 4 papers were for final grades.

As someone who loves history, Shindo's lectures were somewhat dry. Showing up for class isn't necessary; your grade comes from 4 papers based on the textbook. The TAs are notoriously harsh graders, but if you write like the most left-wing hippie in the world, they'll be much kinder to you.

Do yourself a favor and DON'T take this class. It's a 2000-level gen ed with the expectations of a graduate level course. It is nearly impossible to make better than an A- in this class, please heed my advice and AVOID THIS CLASS.

Dr. Shindo's class is not mandatory attendance but he does not put his lecture on moodle, just the outline. So you have to go to class to get the background information for your paper. you don't get to choose what you write about he does by either your last name or first name. The essay's are graded fairly hard but he just pushes you.

You don't have exams just 4 papers from the notes in class and your book that are worth 10,20,30,40 percent of your grade and his Tas grade them. I went to his office hours and he and ward were really helpful. Wilkey was rude and a tough grader for no reason. It's easy to pass the class but write your papers early, they will correct them for you

I have always disliked history, but I LOVE this class. His lectures are very interesting and very clear. There are no tests, only papers. I felt like it was easier since I didn't have to study a bunch. Send the TA your paper beforehand and they'll help you with any issues. He's also very kind and helpful via email. Best history teacher I've had.

Shindo's lectures were great, like he was telling a story. However, there are no exams - all papers based off lectures and a book. The TA's grade the papers, which none of my peers found beneficial; really hard graders, and almost impossible to make an A.

I am taking Mr. Shindo and LOVE this class. I am not a history buff, but I love listening to his lectures. Be ready to sit the whole class typing, though. We only have 4 papers, each weighted differently, so make sure you have good content for the 40% paper. He is extremely helpful when you speak with him after class or via email.
