HOW IS THIS A 1000 LEVEL CLASS? I failed the first two exams even though I studied for days. I stopped going to class, taught myself, and got a B on the third exam. Class notes on Blackboard are really helpful. The prof is really nice, but his style of teaching just didn't work for me. He does a few extra credit papers though, which are great.

His lectures are clear and funny as well. His notes are extremely helpful as well, so study them well. It also helps if u read the text because some of his test questions also refer to it, but his tests are not hard. As long as u study the notes and read the text u should be fine. He also gives koofers on his website.

even though the class is way too long, this professor keeps the attention of his class. you can tell he really loves what he is teaching and it just makes the rest of the class interested. i love that he makes gov't & politics fun and he can joke around with the class while teaching such a large group (600 kids)

i love his class, even tho there is like 500 kids inthere, i just love poitics. i do wish tho he would take a stance on some issues and play the devil's advocate to evoke some discussion and make the classthink. i have only had him for 2 classes.

Walcott is probably the most interesting teacher at VT...he takes a relatively boring subject and turns it in to something worth listening to. I actually felt bad when I missed class (which was only once)...On another note...I didn't really find him intimidating at all...depends on your definition of intimidating though I guess
