Lecture's were so strong, no one would want to miss class. Teaches from the perspective of a soldier on the ground during the Civil War. Awakens one to what these soldiers actually endured. Many special traits noted about famous people from this era you wouldn't know if you didn't take his class.

As a CE major in the early 70's, I had to take 2 history courses. I hated history, but these were the most interesting courses I ever took. The man really does talk/lecture as though he lived during that era. Take his course.

AMAZING teacher!! Take this class if you have the chance. Dr. Robertson is very knowledgeable and makes the class fun! Notes are easy to take, barely have to read to make an A. Very interesting material.

Amazing professor! His lectures truly make history come alive, one of the greatest civil war historians in existence. To get an A go to every class and take thoughtful notes, read just a bit of the text when he tells you to, and enjoy.

Professor Robertson is very knowledgeable on the Civil War. Let the fact be established. However; as a lecturer he has many flaws. First, he speaks too quickly, without repeating things enough. Second, he has what is either an accent or speech issue, so he can be hard to understand. I missed an exam and he let me make it up, so he's cool in my book

Dr. Robertson is one of the best professors at Virginia Tech provided you like civil war...I love this class you really learn a lot and there are only two tests!!!!! He has so much passion for his subject and it really shows in his teaching....I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HIM and recommend his class to anyone even non-history majors.
