He is very clear about the lectures, test dates, and grading. He is very humorous, and is easy to talk to. He understands that people work and have other classes outside of his class, so there is not much homework. If you're good at memorizing things for the quiz, you will do well. If not, he provides resources that you can print out to help!

Comment:

Prof. Wideman is a wonderful person. His anatomy classes are hard, but I don't have other prof. to compare to - so it may just be that ANATOMY is hard. You are solely graded on tests and that's it, no homework or participation points. Prof. Wideman is relateable and you must work hard to get the grade you DESERVE.

Great guy. He went over the material very briefly at the beginning of class and let us go over the material individually for the rest of the time; constantly walking around the room asking if we needed any help understanding the material. Wasn't pushy but was there if you needed him.

Currently have Professor Wideman for lecture & lab BI121, and I don't see myself passing either. I agree 100% with the above, he's a nice, down to earth guy, but his teaching methods leave much to be desired. He flies through lecture and doesn't explain things very clearly. He can't even answer questions related to the section being covered.

He is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is very clear and does an amazing job at explaining in great detail the content in his lectures. I learned SO MUCH from his lectures, and enjoyed going. If you can, TAKE HIM. He is so much better than all the others from what I have heard.

GREAT teacher. He made class very fun and enjoyable. There is alot of content to cover but he makes it easy for you. Gives you a review guide and gives you the essay questions he will be asking. Exams are pretty easy, pretty much follows the study guide he gives out. I highly recommend him for lecture.

Professor Wideman was very helpful. BI 121 lecture was not as fun as lab, but he definitely tried keeping us awake. He offers us to obtain the powerpoint slides where we would fill in the blanks, which is much better than writing everything from scratch. He is very patient and won't make you feel dumb when you don't understand something.

Professor Wideman has a genuine heart for teaching & a joy that radiates in him. I highly suggest taking his class (he has some great stories)! He is helpful & responds to emails well. Teaching style: powerpoint. Downfall to the powerpoint- sometimes you miss things he says because you're writing. Using a laptop was really helpful!

He was such a great and understanding teacher. I loved having him for my BI 117 lab! Whenever you have questions, he is right there with you until he feels like you understand the topic. Tests are very very hard, so you really need to study you butt off and use the models in class. But overall, I would happily take a class with him again.

Could not say enough great things about this professor! He makes the most difficult concepts incredibly easy to understand. He does a great job of explaining things different ways when students aren't understanding. Absolutely phenomenal! All you have to do is print his presentations, show up, take notes and complete study guides for success!

There are not enough outstanding things I can say about this man! Besides being the most kind person I've ever met, this may be the first class I actually LEARNED in! He really knows his stuff! It's a tough course in general, but both his lab and lecture are wonderful!

I did not receive a good grade only because this was the first Biology/Anatomy course in 20 years, but Mr. Wideman is an excellent professor. Very helpful, gives great lectures, provides power points to study from and gives great study guides for tests and exams. Hard class, but attend and study and you will do fine.

I only had Professor Wideman for Lab class and he made it really easy. He talked for about 10 minutes and let us do the SPO's and ask questions the rest of the period-very laid back. He's easy to listen to and understand and will answer any question you have.

Professor Wideman is a very intelligent man, who is generous towards his students. He offers extra credit on his tests to make up for any bad test grades. Class isn't easy and requires a lot of studying. Lecture is mostly Power Point mixed with personal stories. Labs are a breeze but there is a quiz after every lab (10 points). Highly recommend.

I had Professor Wideman for 117, and he was great. I just took him for 122, and I was impressed yet again. The material is hard no matter who you have. Need to attend class! Professor Wideman is very personable and will help if you don't understand. He gives reviews that are helpful. I Highly recommend him for any A&P course!!!!!!
