Great professor! It is definitely a difficult class with a lot of material to cover. The class consists of only 4 Midterms, 4 Quizzes online, and a Final. At the end, she grades on a curve.

The most passionate teacher ever! She makes the subject more fascinating. Everything that is taught is out of the textbook. You must read the book and understand the concepts to pass the test. If you have questions or don't understand, see her immediately. Go to the review sessions! The grade is based on how much work you put into it.

The matierial in this class is extremely difficult, but if you show up to class, take good notes, and READ the book you will do fine. She provides very good study guides and if you study everything on them you will do great on tests. If you dont want to put in a lot of effort, dont take this class.

The reason she is difficult is because of the density of the material she teaches. I would take her if you really want to learn the material, or if you have a strong foundation in biology. She speeds through her lectures, but is willing to slow down if you ask. Textbook is a must, you WILL have to read.

This class is based on memorization - I did not learn a thing. The exams are ridiculously difficult no matter how much I study. The averages are extremely low. I took this class thinking "it can't be that bad" because it was perfect in my schedule but if I could go back I would not take her again. She's very condescending and unapproachable.

Absolutely amazing women. Is she tough yes, because the subject is difficult. I had her for bio psych, neuroscience, and capstone. If you want an easy A don't take her, if you want to learn and are fascinated by the subject, I highly recommend. Professor Freeland is the best Professor I ever had, and made attending SJSU worthwhile.

This is a neuroscience capstone class, neuroscience is obviously a very challenging subject; regardless of who you take this subject with, so you have been warned. Dr. Chancellor-Freeland can be vague about the requirement s of some assignments so ask questions. One exam that you have to write in a blue book, no final. Don't take.

My favorite professor I have had at SJSU so far, and an inspiration as an intellect and a colleague. It's clearly challenging material, so the class is not an easy A, but she's incredibly intelligent and willing to help students, offers extra credit, curves the class, I can go on. If you put the effort into her class you should succeed. TAKE HER!

Very smart and entertaining. Specific way she grades but is very fair. She does test on things she lectures. Reading the text makes life much easier, study sessions were most helpful! Does teach fairly fast, will slow down if you ask her too :) very nice overall and and reasonable

Dr. Freeland is very vague about instructions to assignments and projects. This is a Capstone class about Neuroscience as of Fall 2016. A lot of reading and understanding of the readings because you will be called on to explain your understanding. The book is small with a lot of pages but the terminology is very complicated; don't under estimate.

The Professor is nice and you can see that she is very passionate about what she is teaching. There are 3 midterms/1 final: multiple choice, t/f, and one short answer. All exams need a lot of memorization and you DO need your book to study. She gives out very broad study guides. Quizzes easy open book. I recommend doing all EC opportunities!

Her lectures are very interesting and she has a passion for what she teaches but when it comes to quizzes and midterms, the way she words them is a bit confusing and she words is in a high educated way; i understand its university but we all have different learning styles and that made it tough. You seriously need to commit to this class.

CCF was easily one of the best professors I've ever had. Yes, you will absolutely have to work hard in her class. Yes, you will need to study outside of just showing up. Yes, you should attend every single lecture (which are pretty fast-paced). But she is truly devoted to helping her students learn, and she goes above and beyond to do so.

She's really into all the classes she teaches and has a real passion for neuroscience, but this class is just SO MUCH INFORMATION! You really need to dedicate ALL OF YOUR TIME to it. She kind of jumps around in from topic to topic and lectures really fast. Her slides have minimal information. She curves everything.

Shen makes it unnecessarily hard-would mention something in class once that isn't even in her own slides nor in the book, YET it will be on the test. Also, don't try to be active in this class. If she doesn't know something, she will say there's nothing online about it, and if you know, you must be wrong because she hasn't seen it before!?

I took biopsychology with Prof CCF. I LOVED the course, the material was incredibly interesting! Prof CCF is very enthusiastic about what she teaches! However, it was an extremely difficult course, especially considering it is a lower division class. Show up everyday, take detailed notes, read the book beforehand, and study hard.

Prof CCF is hands down the most interesting and intelligent person I've ever met. Her lectures are definitely difficult to understand if you are not reading the book. THE TEXTBOOK IS LIFE and if you are not putting effort into her class you will NOT PASS. Prepare yourself in advance by reading the chapter before lectures and you'll be fine.

Organization is an issue. Goes too fast through dense lectures. Ran out of time to go over many chapters because she includes too much detail. Grades on a curve when necessary, but would be nice if it wasn't necessary in the first place (considering online quizzes and EC). Nice person, very challenging class.
