Literally says "More often than not" in every sentence. LONG exams and you have to write exactly what she's looking for or you're not going to get the marks you believe you want and when you talk to her about it she'll be rude about everything. Rude during exams too. If you're going to ask a question get ready to hear "you should know this"

Duxbury is a fair marker even though the exams are way too long. She is enthusiastic in class though her slides are disorganized. She is very caring BUT very unapproachable. Always responds very defensively if you ask her anything. Still easy to get a good mark as long as you write what's on her slides word for word on the exams.

Very rude, not helpful. Her course I had to teach myself which itself was informative, but she was not encouraging. Went to her office once to ask for a lab section change and she kept telling me how much of a favour she was doing me, felt like I was being talked down to constantly. Also her quizzies/exam are have irrelevant questions, no thought.

It was her first time teaching this course, and she did the best she could. The course was a little difficult to follow, with a long final but it was doable. The labs are chill, but study for the quizzes as they are difficult and did bring people's marks down. She'll probably change the course next year.

I've had duxbury for multiple courses and she's been nothing but amazing to me. I go to her office hours and ask questions she's always willing to help. This class is fairly straight forward with the assignments and the exam. As long as you keep on top of everything you'll get a great mark! She marks fairly!

From the little interaction that I had with her, she seemed like a heartless women. The tests also test on quite irrelevant material in my opinion; they mostly focus on small details that could easily be looked, rather than probing understanding of overarching concepts (finished with 90 in the class, so not complaining b/c I did bad).

Comment:
She was the lab coordinator for many labs. Cheryl is a smart woman, but she is very cold when dealing with people and even as a 4th year I was intimidated by her to the point were I would not approach her to get questions answered. She has very strict marking standards, and once you understand what is expected of you it is easy to get good marks.

Lectures are well structured and she couldn't be any more passionate about the material which is always motivating. She is also VERY supportive of those who participate in class. She could be more respectful and calm when you visit her office hours.

Cheryl is an intimidating woman. She comes off as loud and rude. Her class wasn't too difficult but her lecture slides are packed with information. She tends to go in circles while talking in lecture which makes it hard to follow and a bit confusing. Not a terrible prof, but be warned.

The midterm and final were honestly the most writing I have ever had to do. As a lecturer, she can be a little all over the place, but still gets the job done. Seems to have a genuine interest in the topic of aging.

Comment:
Duxbury is the lab coordinator for Biol 345. Absolutely no compassion for students. She likes to humiliate people. She can't teach. Has anger management issues. Steers away from responsibilities. These days anyone with PhD can be a prof. She ruins the experience of a student. No matter what course she is involved in.

I had no chance to actually visit her office hours, but I met her for the first time on the final exam day and she actually yelled directly at us during our final. She actually said something discouraging. Pop quizzes have no rhyme or reason - very random. The final had bacteria we didn't work with.

She takes her time on each slide, but this helps solidify the concepts she is trying to convey. Tests are written and extremely long; she gave 30 min extra. The questions may be vague, but the answers require more effort/specificity. She was also very nice during office hours when I needed help.

Her powerpoints are not organized well but have all of the content you need. Midterms and exams are very straightforward and questions can easily be predicted based on how she lectures the material. She also highlights key things to know for the midterm and final. Overall the course is easy to do well in however shes not the best lecturer.

Comment:
Terrible teaching of this course, her lecture slides are overwhelming and hard to organize into actual study notes. Literally uses the word "essentially" in every sentence of every lecture. She takes an extremely long time to mark midterms, even recorded my mark wrong and has very inconsistent office hours.

Marks fairly or as expected for a science course. She wants detail so those who give vague answers will not do well. The exam was tough but she marked that fairly easily. Overall, a good course and a good prof. She does take a lot of time to mark though.

Comment:
Very unorganized prof. She took an extremely long time to mark the midterms and her marking scheme is extremely specific and detailed. She only accepts the answer she wants (which is hard to tell since she gives so much extra unnecessary information in lecture). Very rude in person, laughs in your face a lot when you ask questions.
