Comment:
Chris is the professor that I've met who is most knowledgeable in his field, he can quote most important Philosophical passages from memory. But he is a poor teacher. He proves time and time again that he is much more occupied with showing off his knowledge rather than teaching it. He allows for discussion but has such an agenda it means nothing.

Chris is just about the best in his field. Want to learn about the ancient world? Talk to Chris. He's a blast to be taught by, and really pushes his class (at least seminar classes) to be round-table discussions, so come in having done the reading. He can tell, and he'll make it clear he knows if you've skipped. Can't advise him enough.

Chris is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He is truly dedicated to his work and his students. While his class is the hardest class I've taken at SRC it is certainly worth it. I would recommend taking a class from Chris to anyone. He truly loves what he does and he is always there to support his students.

Chris is a great teacher for Sem 1, he knows what he's talking about and makes class fun and interesting. Chris is engaging and willing to help students with paper topics, extra time, etc. He really wants his students to do well. Pretty hard grader, but you will learn a lot in this class and come out a much better writer.

Chris is hilarious, very knowledgeable and really really cares about his students, and he's one of the teachers who still invites his classes to his house. However, the subject of Latin requires a LOT of memorization, something uncommonly found at SRC,so be prepared for it

Highly knowledgeable and always engaged with his subject matter. He definitely guided and strengthened our class discussions, and I appreciated his thorough feedback on paper drafts (he will respond to any draft, even if you e-mail it to him the day before it's due!) He's very opinionated, but that's to be expected from anyone this brilliant.

Chris is pretty much a demigod. I know for certain that many others hold this opinion. He's helpful, brilliant, and very down to earth for a language/lit guy. ESPECIALLY recommended for Seminar 1. He knows more about Greek/Roman culture, language, etc than any of my other professors. Gives epic feedback. We love Chris.

Chris is the best teacher I've had this entire semester. He's a classics teacher so he knows his stuff when it comes to first year sem. His class, by far, has been my hardest as well as my most fulfilling. Take any class with him if possible. You will not regret it.

Chris is awesome! Some jerkface told me he was a **** and terrified me, and now I don't know where the hell they were coming from. Chris is the ULTIMATE sem teacher, because he knows everything there is to know about the classics! He leads really great discussions, too, and has a very fair grading policy. My favorite professor and my favorite class

Chris is just the nicest guy! He's also really great at keeping class interesting. He lets everyone state their opinions. He spends about two hours grading each paper and commenting, and he has no specific grading system, but weights things based on what your strongest areas are.

Chris is one of the smartest, most helpful, most thoughtful professors at the Rock. His expertise in his feel blows me away and he goes WAY out of his way to help students out with every assignment. His feedback on papers is phenomenal; I usually got two SINGLE SPACED pages of comments from him!
