Comment:

Karen is quite a character. She's prone to mood swings and can be quite nasty at times. I'm a theater major and for the majority of the time I have spent with Karen, I have learned very little. Unfortunately, if you are planning to be a Theater Major, there is no way you can avoid her as the department is literally three people.

I had Karen for Devising Theater and for Soph sem. She's really wonderful and understanding, though her sem class was a little basic. I'd totally recommend her for theater classes, and suggest that if you want to really get something out of sem III you take someone else (tho she's pretty easy).

I had Karen for Improv and Imagination. Karen assigned a good amount of reading, and a small amount of writing, which you will most likely not get back. Karen's teaching style is very relaxed, but vivacious. She's not the most clear at times, and gets off on tangents, but in the end she's a very helpful and enriching theater teacher.

KAREN is INCREDIBLE why hasn't she been getting stellar reviews she is the most Brilliant Sensitive being possible on campus; Seriously this is out of control I will remember her for the rest of my life.

I love theater, but I have real trouble with Karen. She can get very moody and frequently takes it out on her students. She often has no direction for her class and just lets it drift along, which isn't helpful if you take drama seriously.

I've taken a bunch of classes with Karen, mainly because the drama department is so small and it's her or nothing. She's a nice and talented lady, but she's so in her head it's hard to learn from her. Her mood swings are too much for me to handle and I find her pretty fake.

I took both improv and mask and movement with Karen. One issue I had with her was that she gives very little written feedback-- it was discouraging to be writing responses to class work and never getting a response. That said, I feel that she has helped me a lot, and her classes have been very powerful. I would highly reccomend her mask class.

Karen was my advisor until she missed our first meeting and then took 3 weeks to reschedule. We eventually did and worked things out, though i had a hell of a time tracking her down to have her sign something for me by the deadline, and she did not respond to emails or phone calls. Bottom line? Nice lady, not so great advisor.

Karen is a great professor! I think that a lot of people can't handle her because she is really real and honest about everything, which is so important in theatre. Her passion on so many issues is inspiring and her understanding of students is very rare. Karen is also very human, which you don't see often in teachers. I <3 The Countess!

Karen's pretty damn cool, but she's also majorly flaky, so watch out. She tends to let the class flow pretty much on its own, but she gets into all these theatrical exercises that are really useless. Maybe I'd like the class better if I were into theater.

Karen is one of the most brilliant acting teachers I have ever had. her major fault is that she'll help anyone with anything, and can't say no. this turns into a bad thing when she runs out of time to do the things she needs to do, or ends up being late.
