Chris Mares is a very laid back professor. He lets his students do most of the talking and we have a lot of interesting discussions. His class is easy and the assignments are very manageable. He is a cool guy and very nice to talk to.

Good guy. Honestly, he didn't really teach that much, be we always had good discussions about the texts in Honors. It was a class to look forward to. I really like that he focuses more on engaging with the text instead of grades and homework. It's a different approach that works very well.

Also Hon 211 and 212. One of the best honors teachers. Class almost entirely discussion based. Understanding, well-spoken, fair grader, and usually isn't very opinionated. Plus he brings dogs to class. Only word of warning is that he takes off points on papers that are too structured: avoid the high school trap

Amazing preceptor! He's really understanding of any issues you might have. I was extremely sick during finals week so he gave me an extension on my final paper and sent me home from the final. He is a great guy that really gets you thinking.

Both HON 111, and HON 112 were a definitely easy A, but not without some intellectual stimulation. Easy grader, led discussions well, open to writing great recommendations later on. He's very flexible and easy to work with. But his sections fill up really fast, FYI.

He's really easy and entertaining, but less receptive to others opinions. I personally got very frustrated with him because he has a tendency to interupt you and likes hearing his own voice more than others. However, if you want an easy class that you learn a little from, this is for you. (just don't expect to be very motivated.)

I had Mares for both semesters first year and he's one of, if not the best there is. He's very forthcoming in what he expects, and his demands are not at all unreasonable. He's kinda flakey which is helpful when he forgets to assign you things ..like the two mandatory term papers. heh. Yea. He's the****.

i love this guy. very easygoing and so much less demanding than the other preceptors. however, you should come to class with something to talk about because he's not very good at facilitating discussions. gorgeous accent, wonderful fashion sense and oh my god, is he hot.

Great preceptor. Easy going, open-minded, doesn't force discussions to go in any direction, so class discussions are usually very interesting and not always about the book we read. Reasonable with papers and due dates. You can learn a lot without the pain of boredom. I definitely recommend him.
