Easy A if you keep on top of your papers don't put off writing them that will be your downfall. she gives out quiz answers but you have to memorize it WORD for WORD down to the last letter. and she hates tardy people!! she will literally roll her eyes at you if are 1 minute late.

Great class its one you can really enrich your communication skills with and it is very informative. Mary Merritt is quite wise and really knows her stuff. The class is a tad old school but she isn't a hard person to get along with as long as you know your stuff and put in the time to learn the material.

Dr. Merritt is an excellent lecturer. I bought all of the text books, and only read one, which was required to complete an assignment. If you pay attention in class and take good notes, most of the textbooks are not required.

You only need 1 textbook and that's 75 readings. Didn't even use the others. Don't put off any work, or the chance of failing becomes very high. She doesn't grade based on how good your essay is. She grades it based on the style of writing. She does have a bit of a temper if you ask her to repeat herself. Just listen and take VERY good notes!

It's English class.... Dr. Merritt knows her stuff and she likes it done her way. If you want to be special and do your own thing please take another class. Get ready to read, there is a quiz every class, they're easy if you read the material. If she gives you a critique on your paper just do what she wants and make the changes.

I took English 1&2 with Dr. Merritt and she is everything I needed in a teacher. She makes you work for your grade but she honestly wants everyone to pass and will help you if you stay motivated and try. Sometimes she can get under your skin, but don't take it personal, do what she asks of you, & you'll pass. Great teacher, would highly recommend.

She is extremely thorough and detail oriented. She maintains a very high standard and is quite picky. If you are serious about learning the material and not just taking it because you have to, then she is an excellent choice.

I found her good. If your a good student, she'll treat you like a good student. If your bad, then she will treat you bad. Really depends on you. I did the Sat class and that gives you 1 week to get an essay done which was fine for me and I am a full time student with a job. If you take thetime to talk to her, she will take the time to understand.

Professor Merritt makes everything crystal clear. She will stay after to help you. she will take calls and answer emails. She truly wants all of her students to succeed! Remember this: writing papers isn't necessarily difficult but rather time consuming. You take out what you put in. I gave it my all and got an A!

Dr. Merritt knows her stuff! She is extremely thorough and fair. A great professor for those just entering college she'll help you learn what being in college is all about. She doesn't sugar coat things, go to class and participate and you can make an A. You will need to put in the work and keep up with her deadlines. She knows what she is doing!

Didn't have a problem with her at first. As the class went on her attitude towards other colleagues was a big turn off for everyone. It seemed in my class she had favorites. She doesn't give feedback in a timely manner and is so picky about everything you'll be scrambling trying to turn in everything on time.

Dr. Merritt was awesome! I loved her teaching style. I took her English Comp class over the summer and liked her so much that I drove over 40 miles to take her Comp II class in the fall. If you are willing to go to class, listen and do the work you will get a good grade. She is fair in grading and very clear about her expectations.

This professor will not give you your grade, but she is very direct and grades objectively. I fell behind, and still had to do edits/revises, which I appreciate. I didn't get the A that I wanted, but am taking away skills that I can use in future that I didn't even realize I lacked before the class. Definitely recommend Dr. Merritt!

As far as teaching style was concerned I like this teacher. She was very direct and sometimes a bit rude or condescending. She made her expectations very clear and I only wish she had given us the assignment sooner in the course so we would have had time to finish everything even if you had a few revise/edits.

She is very proffessional and made it clear on day 1 that the average passing in ACC is 53% only. Makes it clear that if you pass the papers and quizzes-You will pass her final. Very nice lady with expectations that remind you of the old school that I like.

She is probably the sweetest lady I have ever encountered. Her class is fun, high speed, and she explains everything to the last detail. She is a bit picky but this is what makes the class even better,; the fact that you are actually learning! Her work is NOT hard, but it is long(either way you will have fun studying)SHE IS DEFINITELY THE WAY TO GO

SHE IS VERY,VERY,VERY,VERY,VERY PICKY. HER CLASS IS VERY STRESSFUL ESPECIALLY IF YOUR TAKING 4 CLASSES IF YOU ARE JUST TAKING HER CLASS YOU'LL SURVIVE BUT OTHER THAN THAT AVOID. OH THE QUIZES SHE WANTS YOU TO REMEMBER WORD FOR WORD SO IF YOUR NOT PREPARED FOR THIS AVOID TAKING HER CLASS.
