10/10 choice. Participation doesnt matter if you take him in elkins because its such a big class. He posts all the PowerPoints online and his lectures are literally just reading the pp so you dont even have to go all semester unless its test day. Did this and got an A

Very interesting. No reading required beyond the large take-away message. Easy A but still go to lecture because its interesting!!!

Really great lectures, always interesting and he gets the class involved with presentations. Extremely hard, however, he uses cold calls and makes sure you've done the reading. You learn a lot but you'll work very hard.

Really great professor! All of his lectures were enjoyable and the time went by too fast. He drops the lowest test score and allows to earn up to 6 extra credit points. Overall, you get a lot of information ad knowledge without working yourself up.

This was the easiest class ever. His lectures are just the readings regurgitated so you can get by with not going ever (he elaborates & stresses what will be on the test though so just go). Plus, if you ditch you'll also miss "political minutes" which equates to like 4% in exam questions. Just read the textbook and the tests are a cake walk.

his class isn't too demanding, you could self-teach and hardly show up and come out with a C. Now if that's not good enough for you, you'll want to read the chapters, KNOW THE CHAPTER VOCAB, and attend most classes, since there are things on the test that were ONLY talked about in his lectures.

One of the best professors I've had at Pepperdine. Soper actively engages students, answers any question possible, and makes the material interesting. All four tests are pretty difficult, but as long as you pay attention during his lectures, take the online quizzes, and review the given key terms, you will do fine!

Honestly hated politics til I took his poli sci class. He is extremely excited about what he is teaching which makes the lectures so much easier to pay attention to. tests generally stick to the lectures, hardly had to read the book, and he drops questions a lot of people miss. overall one of my favorite teachers this semester

Tests are not as easy as they seem. You take the test and think that the questions weren't so difficult then get back your test score and realize it wasn't all common sense. Make sure you read the textbook and pay attention in class. Also utilize the online textbook.

No work outside of class. Extra credit offered. Lowest test grade dropped. Curves tests. Don't necessarily need to go to the lecture but I recommend it. Funnycheesy guy. Use online resource on syllabus (great for tests). If you put in the effort you should easily get A-B range.

Easy A if you study. The multiple choice is actually easier than the written part. His Religion and Politics class is a bit more challenging though. Even though it is a large classroom, wait for everyone to leave and ask him questions or email him. I now know my political home thanks to his class. Whether you're Democrat, Republican, take his class

I loved this professor because I'm very interested in politics even though its not my major and he wasn't biased at all. I couldn't tell what his political beliefs were and I appreciated that a lot. He tries to make politics interesting. The only bad things is that his tests are pretty difficult and the multiple choice questions are deceiving.

Great professor! Uses the socratic method, so you will get put on the spot a lot, but it definitely helps you learn! Grades fairly - if you put in enough effort it's totally doable to get an A in his class. Lectures are interesting (it's an 8am and I actually show up if that tells you anything).

I went to this class for a total of about 6 times. I never used the textbook, and even if I went to the lectures, I fell asleep. I ended up with a C+ in the class. Study the online study guides and the terms and you're SET. I did enjoy the lectures when I went & it was pretty cool that I had it during the elections. But I still didn't go.

Overall easy class. Make sure to read the textbook and take good notes for an A. His tests can be tricky, but for the most part if you put in effort you'll get either an A or B.

Honestly did not attend class very often as it was an 8am, but when I did he made it as enjoyable as possible considering the circumstances. Prepare for tests by going over the key terms, and studying the graphs that he includes in the lectures (he loves trend questions). If you have his class at a reasonable hour, attend! He's a great lecturer.

Learn the key terms, and you'll get at least a B. I had him at 8am... So I wasn't there much, but I still did well on the exams. He's cool and tries to liven things up. Read the book and go to class for an A; it's that simple. For those of you that want to put in the least amount of effort and get maximum results; learn the key terms and sleep in!

I had Soper for my first year seminar class, he was great! He isn't a pushover and he makes you do the reading, but he facilitates interesting discussion and tries to get to know everyone in the room. He even made things fun and invited us all over for lunch, and took class outside one day :) Take him, he's a reasonable teacher and a nice guy.
