Worst class I ever took at Pepperdine. Lectures are so boring and monotonous. The newest technology used in this class is probably a really old video about evolution. Jolivet does not use any powerpoint or visual/audio aids to help students learn. All he does is talk for 1.5 hr and read from the bible, digresses a lot to talk about life.

Do not take Religion 102 with Ira. There are only 4 poorly worded tests, and that's it. You won't have any homework other than reading, but the test questions suck. His lectures are not organized, and you won't be able to tell what is important. I already know the material, but I didn't learn anything from him. Take another professor.

I took him 2.5 years ago. He doesn't write down anything and just talks. The grade is based solely off 4 tests. If you ask for help, it's there. He does not allow students to keep their exams however.

GO TO CLASS. You need to hear his lectures to do well on the tests. Even looking at someone else's notes isn't always enough. He can be a little disorganized and unclear with his lectures, so it's hard to take clear notes. Just write down everything he says and study the night before the test and you should be fine.

Great teacher, knows his stuff and engages students in interesting discussions. It is straight lecture, however. You come to class, note what he says, and take the test. No fluff, it's all on you.

Dr. J is a really nice man and this class is NOT hard. just go to class, pay attention, take good notes, study a night or two before the exam, and you will get a good grade. there are only 4 non-cumulative exams (including the final). take Jolivet for 102, he's one of the better ones.

He speaks in monotone and is terribly difficult to pay attention to. His first test was killer but the second was much easier. I would recommend taking this class from another professor.

An A in this class - totally possible. Just make sure to write down EVERYTHING he mentions, because I guarantee you, that one sentence he mentioned, will be on the test. Honestly, it's nothing close to hard. Pay attention, take good notes, underline your book, and re-read everything about 3 days in a row before the exam. Bam, you got an A!

Very easy class, 4 tests and thats it for the grade. Tests are fairly easy, but make sure you read the bible passage he sends you in email if you want an A. Lecture wise...eh. Tangents make him tricky to follow at times and can get boring. But he is really funny and tells good stories. Attendance is checked everyday so come to class

His lectures are interesting. The new testament can get dry in a class room setting, but he makes the lectures interesting and applicable. A super funny and nice guy from the south. Loves theology and his students. Two thumbs way up.

Absolutely no class structure or clarity; no PowerPoint, no notes and no review, only straight lecture. Jolivet is completely monotonous and extremely boring. Class is mandatory so you can't escape the boredom. Read the Bible and you'll do fine on the 4 tests.

Take him for 102 for sure. only tests so NOTHING else to do/turn in. strict attendance policy. you can completely tune him out and still do well on the tests. he did tell me to put away my magazine one day so i was extremely bored but his stories about life/TV are interesting. not much of a teacher but a good duy.

Dr. Jolivet is not much of a teacher.. honestly, his lectures are extremely boring and he loses class attention fast. 4 tests at 25% a piece, so dont mess up on any of them! He will act friendly to you - which is fake. (4) Exams are 75% m.c. and 25% short answer. He'll give you the short answer questions beforehand. Good luck with this class!

Besides some strange mood swings where he'll be lauging with you 1 minute, telling you to shut up the next one, he's a cool guy. Be prepared to listen to his Southern fishing stories...yee-ha! Gotta get me some fish!
