Awesome professor! She is great in class, really tells a lot of good stories. It may take a couple days for her to email you back, but she gave us her cell phone and she always texts back quickly. Very nice, let me turn in late work.

Great professor but she's really busy so very hard to get ahold of if you need anything. Expect to come to class because of you don't you'll miss a lot including announcements and the opportunity to ask any questions while you can.

Comment:
Good teacher and animated considering she deals w/ children. She can be unorganized but she has multiple jobs and wears many hats. Communication could be better. She's knowledgeable in her field. Quizzes and assignments were reasonable. Blackboard was horrible this semester. Overall Howell's a nice person and helps her students however she can.

I love her as a person, but she is not a good professor. She is more likely to help if you ask her. Her lectures are based and read off of a textbook company website. She gives examples here and there. She expects you to read and remember entire chapters for the test. Her tests usually do not match her lectures. Replies to emails? Do not expect it.

She's a cool person in person. But don't EVER EVER EVER take an online class with her. Her syllabus is riddled with errors, she never responds to emails, she fails to unlock upload links so she has to push all due dates back, and this is the worst part, she fails to correct her schedule or tell you when the due date is. No communication. Sucks.

WORST professor I've had at CSUB! She completely forgot she was teaching a summer class and went on vacation. NEVER posted the midterm or the homework. Never responded to emails. Somewhat of an easy class but the lack of communication is very frustrating.

I think CSUB should be embarrassed to have her as the head of the department. She doesn't communicate for it being an online course. She will not respond to emails. She doesn't give feedback on assignments. She takes 3-4 weeks to grade anything. Takes a long time to turn in grades at the end. She leaves you hanging on if you will actually graduate.

She's a good teacher but she lacks a lot of communication with students. If you had a question you would not get an answer for a long time and by that time the assignment was already due. Tests are confusing and all over the place it would help if she gave a study guide or outline for it. Doesn't follow syllabus dates.

I really enjoyed going to her class. Shes very animated with her lectures. She is also very helpful if you ask for help personally because she rarely replies to her emails and when she does they are vague answers that still leave you confused!but if your looking for an easy class this in NOT the class.

Well, I have to say for a Child Development Teacher she really does require her students to TRY. I am a slacker and, well, recieved the grade I deserved. However, I hate the online tests. Those are really confusing in my opinion. Anyway, in all I would have to agree that she is a very smart, helpful, and unorganized teacher, but, I like her.

Terrible. Does not reply to emails, phone calls and is never in the office, if she is busy she should not over schedule herself at the expense of tuition paying student, who are also busy and working. Class is not educational, you will learn nothing.

Disorganized but great. She is a busy woman. This class was face to face and she provides great information on the subject. She knows her stuff. She does get to you late and is not very good with blackboard but she does take that into consideration when grading. Great teacher, Needs aide.

She is a good teacher but always super busy, she never replies to any e-mails and always leaves grading until the end of the quarter. I took this course online so it made it difficult to have any questions answered by her. The class is not difficult, just make sure you turn in assignments on time. Her face to face classes are much better.
