Comment:

Dr. Karpiak is a good professor, is really knowledgable, and makes lecture funny from time to time. Her quizzes are pretty damn hard because there always seems to be at least one question that you don't know. You watch lots of videos which is a nice break from typical powerpoints. She assigns lots of reading... sometimes 50+ pages per quiz.

Comment:

Quiz almost every week as opposed to major exams. Other assignments (final paper, front-loaded weekly reflections on "Psych in News") are good supplemental assignments. The gripe I have is that she didn't provide feedback on the case studies (e.g., why we received a certain grade) and were consistently reassessed w/o desired feedback.

Comment:

The class is not as bad as everyone makes it seem. Definitely worth taking. You have a quiz or case study every Monday. The quizzes are tricky, but you will get used to her style. Take notes, pay attention during lecture, read the assigned text and you will do great. The class is worth taking as long as you are willing to put the time in!

One of the worst teachers I've had. Extremely boring. Notes are disorganized, no one gets a 100 on the quizzes. Makes it difficult to get up for class in the morning. Would not recommend. Monotone

Nice woman but horrible teacher. I basically had to teach myself and even a tutor wasn't helping me. I somehow miraculously got a B+ in the class. The tests and two big quizzes are very hard. Teach yourself and try to work with a classmate as much as possible.

do NOT take. lectures are confusing, info is interesting but she doesn't teach the material in an organized manner. quizzes every monday, which no one will get 100, she said so herself. only way to pass is if you write down everything on the powerpoint, every word that comes out of her mouth, and read the textbook thoroughly. made me hate psych

Took her for PSYC 210. Group projects exams and fair individual quizzesexams. Will give you extra points if you put the effort in and gives bonus reading quizzes. Only takes attendance during group work. Hilarious in class, and will definitely prepare you for the exams. Fair grader, curves when applicable. Would recommend!

Bad teacher. the quizzes are hard and she even said herself that no one will ever get 100 on them. i learned nothing in the class. all textbook reading. quizzes are tricky. she will mention someone once and then put it on the quiz. if you miss one class u will fail the quiz. do not like the way she teaches. very hard to keep up.

Hilarious and interesting. Her facial expressions are the best and she gets so into what she's teaching, it's awesome to be in her class. A lot of textbook reading after the first little bit, videos are always interesting

She is one of the best teachers that I have had at the university. She makes learning an interesting and thought-provoking thing. I really enjoy going to her lectures, they are funny and sarcastic. Her passion for the field of psychology has really inspired me and has made me think about my future

First and foremost, she's cute. Second, I was in her PBL course for stats and it rocked, interesting and informative. Not THE easiest, but def not difficult. It's probably the typical bone-headed psych majors that complain about her. Grow a pair.

Absolute WOSRT teacher! Avoid her at ALL COSTS. She's the reason I hate the subject of Psychology. Quizes were hard. I studied for hours and did terrible. I felt, along with others in my class, that her quizes were tricky. She's also VERY boring. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!

she is very hard. i am a good student and studied 4 hours a week for each weekly quiz and i am yet to get a 100 on one of them. hard grader on papers. nice lady though, lectures aren't too boring. but her quizzes are very hard.

She is a great teacher! dont be afraid of research methods lab if you take her. She is extrememly helpful and you know she has a passion for teaching. A 2 hour lab is actually kind of enjoyable!

Excellent Professor! Made class interesting with her commentary and switched up her lectures every now and again with movies and group activities! Always made herself available to us kids and made great efforts to get to know each and every one of us. Half the class is taking abnormal in Spring and other half wishes they were! What does that say?

weekly quizes, but easy once you get the hang of them...you have to do the reading because some of the stuff on the quizes comes from the text and not the notes. she puts all the notes on blackboard for you to copy. 2 papers, no tests
