Great Teacher,even greater guy. Yes,he pushes his students..all great professors do. I learned so much from these two classes(110 & 111). And not only knowledge about our country's history, but wisdom and life lessons that only a man as old and as smart as Doc could have. I'm glad I got him in his last year because he really was a FANTASTIC teacher

Class is based on lectures only with encouragement of participation when he asks questions to the class based on the text (if you read it). There are 5 BOOKS that you need to read - 4 MC book quizzes & 1 major paper. Tests are bluebooks and also gives a final. You will love the class if you love history! Very knowledgable and he tries to be funny.

he def knows what hes talking about but is quite unsympathetic to his students. he likes to motivate his students. overall he is a good teacher that is laid back and good to be around. he focuses more on college level work as shoudl be. not recomended for non-history majors unless one is looking for challenging class

One of the better history professors I've ever had. Take notes, stay awake, study and you're set. He'll tear your papers apart but he usually lets you submit a rough draft then correct it. I took him for HIST110 and I'm def having him again for 111.

Comment:

Dr. Hueston's classes are a bit intense. He covers a vast amount of information which leads to a test comprised of 80% essay (2 questions). 3-4 tests, 3-4 book quizes, book review/term paper, and a final make up the grade. He is quite arrogant, takes his class way too seriously, and grades very tough, but as queer as it sounds, you will learn.

Boring.ZZZZZZZ....The man expects you to know word for word from the notes he gives, believe me there are a lot of notes to take. Tests are hard and he has u read 4 different books and quizzes u on them. Its only an intro class and hes thinks its your major. Dont take class unless you want to read a lot about dead presidents.

Hueston is knows his stuff, very knowlegable.Not very sympathitic to students needs. Tests can be a bit tricky. Doesnt give students a good view of social aspects of history, if you want to know every single detail of history in a diplomatic sense take him. Not bad though, will put you to sleep in early morning classes. Overall Ok.
