Dr. Hooser is an amazing professor. She has a really quirky personality an makes class really enjoyable. However, she makes you honestly work for your grade. You have to read the book, come to class, and study for the tests. There is a group project that is worth over 200 points. Find a good group to work with and you will pass the class.

She is the best professor that I have taken in my three years so far at EIU. There is a lot of content and the tests are difficult. I had to push myself more than I have in any other classes. But, her lectures are amazing. She is such a genuine and caring individual. She has such a talent and passion for teaching. I wish I could take her again.

Shes a good teacher in the sense that she knows what shes talking about, but she is incredibly rude and straight up mean if you ever ask her a question or ask for help. Shell actually make fun of you in front of the entire class and she doesnt care how embarrassed or bad that person feels. It makes for a weird, negative environment sometimes.

She knows her stuff I'll give her that much. However, belittles you and makes you not want to further your degree. Tests are insane. The wording on them makes absolutely no sense. The case study has to be the absolute worst part. If she took that part out of the course it may be actually passable. Groups are the worst idea for this course!!!

I just took Dr. Hooser this summer. I had heard that she was really strict and the class was hard, but it wasn't that bad. She made you work for your grade but the work load wasn't that bad. The majority of your grade is a group project. Stay organized because she grades your binder at the end. And, the final was open note so take really good notes

Hooser is a wonderful person however not a big fan of her as a professor. Her lectures are boring and she always makes us take out way too much stuff at once. We are in a auditorium seat and its hard to have a laptop, binder, sheet and notebook out... Your entire grade depends on a case study with a group.

Honestly, one of the best professors at EIU. Not easy but so worth the challenge. May not always seem to be true, but she really cares about each and every one of her students.

Dr. Hooser is a great person, she knows her stuff. She expects you to take this class very seriously. It is not a class you can blow off and expect an A. Tests are extremely hard, but with all the extra credit she gives out helps! She also gives a huge group project, but if you do what she wants you to when she asks, it is not bad.

The material that was presented on the exam was not presented during the lectures. She made a student cry during class and she offers no motivation or support to help you pass the class. It feels as though she is rooting against you. She looks like donald trump and she's a menopausal rage monster.

We listened to lecture after lecture. But her lectures were never relevant to the exams. I know someone who recorded the lectures, recorded his lecture notes, and listened to them during the exams and he still failed every exam.

Good luck. She is so funny and a nice person outside of the classroom. However, in the classroom she is very strict. Very intimidating. The tests are killer, especially if you are not a special ed major. General classroom education major expect a C, special ed majors who have seen this stuff, expect a B. Very hard, group project saves grades.

I honestly love her, yet her sense of humor can make her difficult to approach. You definitely have to work and study HARD for your grade, but it is possible. If you don't work hard, you will not succeed. Huge group project worth half your grade. I received an A and it was very rewarding for the time and effort I put into it-it is possible!

Mrs. Hooser knows Special Education inside and out, which is great. However, this class is VERY HARD. Whatever you do, make sure you read and review lecture AND book notes as the tests are half of each. She has a very dry sense of humor too, which makes it hard to approach her, in my opinion. She gives bonus points for little things--they add up!

Tough class, horrible teacher. The material is challenging to begin with but the teacher makes it worse. She is rude and belittles any question asked by a student. She regularly points people out, embarrassing them. All work is in groups and A LOT of time is required to meet outside of the regular class time. VERY time consuming class!

The tests were not hard if you read the book material. Half of the test would be notes and half would be book.

She tries to make the topics interesting and attempts at jokes, but in reality when she asks if anybody has any questions you are better off not to raise your hand and ask. She is very rude when you need and explanation or help on an assignment. Be sure to come to class every day and read the assigned chapers! the tests are very difficult!

BEST Teacher! She's FUNNY and keeps you awake. Tests weren't too hard I barely studied and got no lower than a C. Lots of EC and group work. Changed course to less testing and more group work with IEP and case studies. Only had 3 tests then the final. As long as you respect her she will be nice. Stays late to answer Qs and give advice. Little HW.

This class is tough, but what special education class isn't? She expects a lot. Make sure you go to class because she gives a pop easy quizzes when people don't show up to class. Her tests aren't too bad as long as you read the chapters! She is pretty funny and had me cracking up most of the time. I'd take her again.

She keeps her class very interesting! The material is tough, but that is because you have to know it. You have to take good book notes to do well on the tests! She makes the material fun though
