Dr. Guthrie (who, incidentally, does not go by "Chuck") is an awesome professor and all-around great guy. Anyone who has the chance to learn from him shouldn't be put off by a little extra work--this course changed the way I thought about the world, and even though it wasn't my major, was the best class I took in college!!!

very intelligent man, knows just about everything there is to know about history. the problem is that he expects students to know some things just because he knows them. he is helpful if you ask for it and a very nice guy in person.

I loved him as a teacher. He taught me so much about history. At first I was scared of him, but after meeting with him one-on-one I discovered that he really is a nice guy who genuinely wants to help his students understand the world they live in.

Wow -- he's hard, but I learned so much from him. He taught me how to study. Don't take him if you want an easy A or to just be entertained, but if you really want to learn history and don't want to read the same old textbooks you did in high school, then he's the man!

A good person, but an EXTREMELY difficult professor. Eventhough it was a higher level class, the material was JUST TOO MUCH! For a class that took 90% of my study time, and to get a D in the end was disappointing. This by the way was my first and last grade below a B+ (EVER!!).....so think about it before enrolling. He seriously needs a chill pill.

I thought he was nice and he wasn't too hard if you paid attention and took notes in class. All the people I know who said he was a bad professor didn't pay attention in class, so I wouldn't listen to them. I think he's a good teacher...just give him the respect of being a good student in return.
