My god. If you value your time, money, grades, and life AVOID THIS CLASS. The prof may be a good person, but the teaching isn't. I feel bad giving her such a rating, but I care about people's education. If you're a math genius, then of course this is easy. If you struggle, you'll struggle more in this. "Tough" is an UNDERSTATEMENT regarding tests.

This teacher is beyond horrible. People around the world struggle with math, and entering her class will make that struggle worse. Everyone makes mistakes, but no where near as many as she makes. She talks at you for the entire class not caring if you're getting it or not. If math wasn't one of my best subjects, I'd be suffering even more than now.

Allen is one of the worst professors at SMC.I took her during the summer she is completely absurd. She makes the test like if it were a final and also she likes her way of teaching nothing else. She always makes mistakes on the board and also grades your scratch work which is stupid. I reccomend no one take her class she is crazy.

I took alg 2 in high school so this class was a review for me so it was somewhat easy, I got a B. Her teaching is what is terrible! If you are not good at math DO NOT TAKE HER! She odesn't grade hw, so basically your grade are the 4 tests including the final which she doesn't preoare you for!She makes too many mistakes that her student correct her!

She's very good & detailed in explaining the problems. In order to pass the class, you must do the hw assigned every day. Her tests are easy, but with a little mistake, she will take off points. That's the tiny thing i don't like about her test grading. You get the grade you deserve. She's not a horrible teacher at all.

At this moment, i am currently trying to drop this class. Ms. Allen is a terrible teacher. She gets iritated and mad when you ask one question and doesnt answer questions that students need help with on their homework. I highly recomend you not to take this class. Eventhough she gives you 100 problems a night for HW, it wonthelp you on the tests :(

At first she really freaked me out and I felt intimidated. But, Im horrible at math, and she really went over things enough-where I got it. She did not make you feel lame for asking questions. There is a lot of homework, but If you need to advance in math, actually learning it-then take her. I ended up really liking her.

she wrote the book she uses to teach with. first half of class is hw review. the second half is examples for the next hw assignment. very impersonal. dry. and uneventful. i took the class during the winter session...2-3 hours of hw a night. some people took up to 4 hours. i got an A, but im good at math, just haven't taken a math class in 9 years.

DONT TAKE HER. If you're one of those people that likes having a good teacher, then she is not for you. She DOESNT teacher during class. Just goes over the hw. Half the time she cant even hear what you say. the book she made for class, is FULL of mistakes (that confuse you!) & I dont think she's ever bothered to update it. NOT A GOOD TEACHER.

Allen knows her math and will teach you if you do all the HW and show up each time. That said, the text is handwritten and difficult to read. Disorganized, forgetful, rigid and inflexible at times, i.e. you will learn based on her teaching style and that's that, so don't ask. Need this class, but I wouldn't take this prof. again.

I'm currently taking this teacher, which frankly i was afraid to do because of all the bad comments posted here. But I'm so glad to have taken her, its a teacher that knows her stuff w/o a doubt.
