Such a helpful and insightful prof. As long as you put in the effort, he will too. Definitely knows his stuff and wants to see you improve. Participate in class, do the readings, take notes and you will do good! He made my Writing 1000 experience a breeze.

Professor Lobe is great, he teaches all you need to succeed in class and is more than willing to help out during his office hours. He wants you to improve yourself, he gives you the information but you have to put in the work. English is my second language and his class was really helpful to me. I would recommend him to everyone.

Best prof I've ever had. He marks hard and his exams are tough but he is more than willing to work with students outside of class and is committed to his students. Everything for the exams is on the handouts, you have to put in some effort, but hands down most helpful class I've taken in university and one of the best people I know

This class is a requirement for every major in the university and Cliff lobe grades like this is a 4th year class. He marks hard, and if you don't write like he wants you will fail as he only likes writing a certain way, his way. Even if help is asked for you will still get an F in course. For exams he gives you questions that he won't ask

Keep up on the readings and participate in class discussion to boost your grade. You need to put in the effort but you will learn a lot, changed my attitudes towards writing. Would highly recommend.

He doesnt explain what he wants and tries to make everyone write like him. You can go see him and ask for help but even if you use his guidance, hell still question your work and grade you poorly. Dont bother asking for help, he is quite confusing. Very dull lectures. Would not recommend

He knows his stuff, and tries to help you out. He is an ok teacher, I think the real problem was the validity of the class he had to teach. Waste of time, but mandatory because it's a liberal arts school. He does have a monotone voice so if you fall asleep easily in class watch out. He looks for participation. He's a great guy though.

Dr Lobe is a really great professor. All you need to do is pay attention and show interest. Office hours do wonders. He cares about his student's success. I have no regrets taking this class. Found it to be very helpful with other courses. His tries to be funny to keep the class going and participation in class discussions helps up your grades.

Dr. Lobe is a great prof. He really knows his stuff and is always willing to help outside of class. He has high expectations, especially for a first year class, but he really helps you understand the content and you will notice huge improvements in your writing after taking this course. He's super nice, but you've got to put in the effort!

Dr. Lobe is straight up one of the best professors I have ever had. He is more than willing to put personal time in to help you understand the material; simply show interest and put in the effort. He focuses a lot on why things are important rather than just making you memorize things, which is extremely helpful. He made me enjoy Writing/English.

Highly recommend taking his class; he completely changed my attitudes towards writing. It is definitely worth it to go to his office hours as he is really helpful and encouraging. The class is lots of work, but really rewarding if you put in the effort. An "A" is not impossible as some others suggest. Would definitely take his class again.

Comment:
Very unfair grading considering it is an intro level course that is mandatory for most majors. Other students suggest that all the other profs are much more reasonable. There is an unrealistic amount of reading assigned and the final did not reflect what was taught in class. Very difficult to stay attentive due to his monotone voice.

Cliff Lobe is very passionate and knowledgable about writing. This course has extremely heavy course load. Be prepared to have a writing assignment every week and not to mention a 10 page research paper. The final exam is also awful and you are not given enough time. Cliff is a very tough marker be prepared to get a B or lower.

Dr. Lobe definitely knows his stuff; however, his expectations greatly exceed a 1000 introductory writing class. He is a very hard maker and our class average was below 50% on every assignment this term (before people dropped out) and is now a D+. I highly suggest taking it with ANY other professor if you want to save time and your GPA!!!

Cliff is really knowledgeable about writing but his voice is so monotone that it's hard to stay interested. He piles on lots of reading and his tests do not match what he tells you will be on them. His one redeeming quality is that is he always willing to give you feedback and work with you one on one.
