I took this class many years ago, but I remember Dr. Read very well. He is a challenging and demanding professor, a bit eccentric in his own way. Maybe I was one of these "favourites" that everyone speaks of (since I met him at an open house and he remembered me), but I found his class informative and he definitely made me a better essay writer.

Do not take his class is you are looking for an easy mark. Dr. Read is a challenging prof. I came out of the class with a not so wonderful mark. However, his course taught me a lot and made me want to learn more.

Prof. Read is a fine instructor. He is witty, intelligent, and knows how to run a clase. He made me want to strive beyond my limits. I definitely recommend him. :0)

Most people dislike him. I can't say that I am one of them. As long as you show an interest in his class and dont do rude things like fall asleep in class, he is a decent guy. He is one of Canada's best historians, so I think his arrogance is warranted, although thats no justification for his quirks

Colin Weed is a terrible professor. Why do you think he has the most ratings on this site? A lot of people dislike him, including a lot of other professors. Stay clear of him if you have to, but if you ahve to take his class (only if you have to) try and get on the guys good side or your toast.

Excellent professor. It was because of Dr. Read that I transferred to Huron to do my undergrad in History. Fair, thoughtful, witty, wants his students to better themselves, especially those who WANT to learn. Doesn't suffer fools.
