Botar really cares about what he teaches, he uses humour quite often and makes class quite interesting and captivating, yes it does require a lot of memorization and studying but it is a history course. Would definitely take a class with him again!

Comment:

Very good introductory course if you're good at memory work and encoding. Flash cards were what really made this course bearable, but he gives good feedback and suggestions about history as you develop your essay.

Comment:

Very helpful for assignments, however, expects an excessive amount of knowledge for the final - we're talking over 500 pieces of art. I find this to be quite unreasonable for a introduction class that is a requirement for a studio degree, as most students in this class are studio students, not art history. An intro class means key points.

Dr. Botar gets completely off track with his syllabus, but still expects students to study material that he hasn't taught for the final. When you can actually convince him to help with assignments the help is useless because he will change his mind about what he wants from you for the assignment multiple times. The textbook will teach you more.

he is very knowledgeable in art - however he us useless with multimedia equipment. He is not helpful in a one on one meeting, as well he is pompous and believes a student in need is not worth him coming to the school for, even though he's arranged the meeting time - a no show! Not sure how he got such good review from other students???

Anyone who calls Cleopatra a fox is good in my books. Great sense of humour, really loves what he's doing. It's so funny when he gets distracted and starts babbling, about useful things, but just kind of goes off. Also funny when he casually tells us we should go to paris and england and all these places like they're right next door.

The closest thing to a hunky prof the art school has! I adore his fashion choices. One thing I dislike is his love of reading from notes - he is much more interesting when he just talks candidly. Also, he's heavy on the readings.

Great sense of humour, however, lectures are weak in areas that are not his specialty. Would like to see him try and lecture less from his prepared notes and more from knowledge and passion.
