Colin Shaw is the worst Professor in the entire Mechatronics and Robotics program. He began teaching by covering the entire course material in one week as a "pre-view" of what's to come, which was too fast for anyone to properly understand. His grading policy of horrible and he does not prove a rubric. Drop out of this class and take ELEX 1105!

He appears to be intimidating but very helpful. He is also surprisingly merciful when it comes to marking major tests. Got nothing working on the lab test and still passed

Colin has a toolbox of motivational tactics to encourage us to stay on the ball. The labs in this course are really fun and he marks more on preparation and enthusiasm than on lab completion. He encourages making mistakes and troubleshooting. Most of the course learning is in the lab and the lecture just supports the lab material.

Colin does a great job of teaching a very difficult class. He can be a little tough to follow in lectures but is one of the best 1-on-1 tutors. Always available in his office (he may actually live there) and is always testing and asking questions to get you thinking. You better put in the effort in his class but if you do, it pays off.

His notes are confusing. The way he explains the lecture is confusing. You really have to work hard especially if you don't have Digital Techniques background. However, he is very helpful during his office hours- but still kind of confusing. Just make sure you take time to read and understand the course. LAB is really fun though- my favourite!

Being it was confusing as digital electronics were new to me. Shaw notes can be messy as he writes on his tablet and posts it online. You must pay attention in class to understand his notes. Take notes from there and there just to remind yourself what he did. He is still a pretty good teacher as I still rmr the material he taught to me.

his notes suck, and has no textbook to reference what he is teaching. If you miss a class ur scrwed, u wont understand his notes unless he explains them. reviewing is hard it u forgot how he explained it. much better teachers at bcit thats forsure

Great Teacher. Very knowledgeable and patience. Explained things many different ways that so many people would understand. (that made his class somewhat boring if you understood it the first time or already knew what he was teaching.) Condones solutions that he did not think of himself. (Other teachers have marked me wrong for such things)

Oh my goodness what a cool guy i have seen . he just teach 0 , 1 and this goes their it goes her and that goes their . sometimes he confuse himself to . he should need to learn dressing sense . Colin is a very nice guy, super helpful one on one. Lecture can be a bit confusing but if you follow along in the text book like you should be there will be minimal problems. Labs are more about learning than the lab write ups. Can come across as blunt but does not mean any disrespect.
