While enthusiastic, he often focuses on material he finds interesting rather than the material that will be tested. He does not explain himself clearly and you must learn the material on your own. Lectures are basically useless.

This prof was useless in preparing his students for Calc 2; he simply read a textbook aloud all semester. However, I used Grant's tutoring, never attended class, and walked away with a B+ ! On the other hand, Prof Thomas is a really nice guy and means well; he also posts everything that is done in class on his website!

This guy reminds me of a mix between Gandalf the Grey and Doc from Back to the Future. Having said that, his lectures are fairly useless, his lectures are boring and useless, and his exam questions are worded terribly. On the upside, he is helpful outside of class, and Trim's notes teach you everything if you take the time to read them.

Don't let the other raters scare you. It's almost a joke how easy this course is. Easy quizzes, easy mid-terms and probably the easiest final you'll ever write. Thomas may be a pretty lousy instructor (he's a nice guy though) but Trim's awesome notes are all you really need anyways. And if you take it with Thomas, you can avoid having assignments.

This prof wasted 15 minutes per class on side topics. The midterms didn't reflect the type of questions done in the textbook or class. He would spend a long time going over easy subjects, but would run through difficult concepts. Do not take classes with this prof, because it is a waste of money; he simply cannot teach.

If you want to waste 4 months of your life spend 500$ pluss and get no where near the mark you desire no matter how much you study then i have the class for you!. This is a guy who had a temper tantrum after the first mid term because he didnt get his "Bell curve". He also complained on how he didnt like "Trims" theory every single class.

Take note of the date on the ratings Prof Thomas has received. Most of the bad ratings came from over 2 years ago and most of the ratings he received in the last 2 years have been excellent. It's quite possible he used to be a bad teacher, but I would recommend him highly to anyone. He is very clear and there is virtually no theory involved.

He spends his classes rambing on about the theory behind all the concepts and does not follow the textbook. You will be expected to apply all the theory t types of q's you've never seen before. His grading is very unfair. I recieved 2/8 on a q where I did everything right but wrote answer on the back of the apge cuz I ran out of room, indicating it

R. Thomas is a wonderful teacher. He explains everything very well and he has a subtle sense of humour that makes the class very enjoyable. He is very willing to help individual students and also answers questions concisely.
