Hard if you haven't taken art history before. Grade mostly based on the comparison paper, midterm and final. If anything, learn the content of each artwork and the names and forget the dates for the midterm and final. Record lectures in case you miss anything since he goes really fast. Don't need to do the readings, lectures are clear enough.

Make sure to never miss lectures! The day before thanksgiving break not many people came to class so then he said there would be something from that lecture on the final. Class is pretty interesting and he is a nice guy. Class is A LOT of memorization so be ready to start studying and memorizing. Would take another class taught by him again.

The class is based on 3 or 4 vocabulary quizzes, all the vocabulary words are in the syllabus. Read the syllabus, it is the key to an A. Record all the lectures, he talks rather fast. For the final make flashcards which have the themes, context, and style. Thats what I did and I got an A. This is basically mandatory if you want an A. Go to class.

This class was very memorization heavy. If you miss even one lecture you're risking completely missing a question on the midterm or final. He requires you to memorize the date, era, location, name, and analysis of all the pieces that you look at in class. You can focus on the ones that he analyzes most in depth. He's a good professor but very picky

Old school style prof his slides are nothing but pictures and you must write as he speaks. Mostly reads (what i presume) an essay/paper to the class. He goes off on tangents sometimes but profRudolph was a great professor to have. 2 exams based off of the readings and lectures. Only take this prof if your willing to put in the effort. NO EASY A.

Dr. Rudolph is a renown figure in the art history world, and he knows it. This is an old school professor, he lectures for the whole class and there's no slides or interaction between prof. and student. Very old school. Try to talk to him one on one because he is truly an academic with a lot of wisdom to share. A scholar in every sense of the word.

THIS IS NOT A EASY A CLASS! If you are a student like me taking multiple science classes, avoid! He requires you to memorize many terms, know their era, and memorize the exact dates it originates. His final and midterm consist of three frqs in which some questions are in depth and dumb. Also discussion is mandatory. His lectures are crap as well.

I read the reviews on this professor and saw how everyone was raving about how great his lectures were. I took his class and to my surprise he simply read word for word off a paper in the softest voice ever. On the last day he was so rude and condescending when I turned in my final he didn't even reply when I said have a good summer.

He is one of the finest art history professors at the University. He gives amazing lectures that all of the content that you are expected to now comes from. Grades are based on two essay tests with two questions each. Remember to study the names and dates of art works!

Prof. Rudolph is a good professor. You really have to attend lectures because the tests are essay questions based on information given in class. Section is for participation, but is very straightforward. Go to lecture, go to section, review your notes before a test and you should get an easy A.

The only exams are the midterm and the final, two essay questions each. He did not assign a paper. Prof. Rudolf is an authority in his field. If you are interested in architecture or medieval culture this is the class for you. Rudolf expects a lot from his students but it is an intellectually rewarding class to take.

There is plenty of material contained within the class, so it's a LOT to study for. Don't take it unless you're willing to put in effort. I recommend you study in advance. Study all the IDs and notes! Record the lectures and rewrite notes. Go to section, it's part of your grade. Vocab quizzes are easy, the four page paper is also easy.

I really enjoyed taking this class. As long as you have a basic grasp on the history of the period covered in the class, it is not at all difficult to understand the topics and themes discussed.

Read the syllabus he provides and it will prepare you for the lecture. Use the list of works to aid in note taking during lecture. He weaves a great narrative that will help you understand the works without boring you to tears.

TA grades the essays. Vocab quizzes are easy, it's those 2 essays that drag down your grade. No matter how much analysis and effort you put you will surely get a B or lower on your essay. He is passionate about the topic but it does not make up for the lack of clarity or enunciation in his teaching. Take GOOD notes!!! FYI:TB is not necessary.

My favorite class i took this quarter! If you want to do well in this class, GO TO LECTURE. you get all the info you need from there. I hardly used the textbook, but i did use the Abacus to Zeus a lot. Brooke is a great TA, she's very approachable and helps you if you ask for it. Everyone should take this class!

Excellent Lecture. I highly suggest taking this class. I am a fourth year bio major and I suggest every major to take this class. Just memorize the slide IDs. Record the lecture and relisten and you will get an A. Reading the book is not necessary.

He is incredibly interesting and has many personal stories to tell relating to the subjects he's talking about. He doesn't take his teaching lightly and holds his students accountable for the material he goes over, so pay attention. I received a B in his class with out really opening any text, but I wouldn't recommend that if you want a good grade.
