He really makes you think for a change. Not just memorize & regurgitate--but think. The material is eye-opening and unnerving. Makes you look at your life & society in a whole new way. Lots of reading & writing. Fair but tough grader. The ideas & content of both courses I took from him stick with me.

He's had experience in environmental field for many years, so he definitely is passionate about the subject. His grading is clear, so you know what to expect. Do the assigned work early, give yourself time to read the material, and show up to class to engage in the subject. The lesson I took away from his class is Time Management.

This was the only class that I have taken at C.S.U.E.B. that actually felt like a college class. It was very intellectually stimulating and fulfilling to take this course. I thoroughly enjoyed it. But expect to do a ton of printing and reading. One of the textbooks was also out-of-print. He is a VERY tough grader. Take this class because you want.

Dr Collins is very inspirational and he gives you several extra credit options... However, he seems to recycle all of his classes. Same powerpoint in all of his classes no matter what class it is. Not that difficult though, as long as you know how to write.

Professor Collins is passionate about what he teaches. Through his lectures, you could tell how he dislikes the system we have now. His class is interesting, and his lectures make you question a lot of things you've known before. He wrote the book required for this class. It is a MUST-READ, because IT BLOWS YOUR MIND, and it gets you an A in class!

Very passionate about his beliefs so lectures are biased. Tests are easy if you pay attention and attend class. Don't argue with him. You do learn about how corrupt politics is and only the negative side of everything. His book is really depressing

Professor Collins and his classes are one of the most inspiring classes you can take as a POLSC-student. You don't only learn for a grade, but his classes leaves you with a new mindset and a new way of thinking about things. You definitely LEARN from his classes. Very interesting lectures and material. Recommended especially in comparative politics

Mr. Collins is a very opinionated professor, but he did allow all students who had questions or counter remarks to speak. His readings were average, but his lectures were very interesting. His class gives you a new perspective to consider. Pretty easy if you do the work!

He is a very knowledgable professor, however he would get sort of mad at the class when no one wanted to answer his questions. The REASON why no one wanted to answer him is b/c he would expect you to give a perfect analysis and complete understanding of whatever he asked. & that is why I kept my mouth shut the WHOLE quarter. Exams were tough too.

Very difficult class. If you don't enjoy Political Science, do not take his class. It is full lecture and book reading. He is very unreasonable however with grading. I've never received a C in a course till his class. I wouldn't ever take him again.

Very passionate in what he teaches. Interesting lectures but has....no care for his students. He doesn't seem to care what his students have to say. You have to agree with his opinion to get acknowledged in the class and donĂ‚´t even think about questioning him. He will make you feel stupid for even thinking the way you do. Just agree with him.

He is the embodiment of all the stuff he talks about...it really is amazing. I finally got the 'college' education. Ya know, the kind that tries to expand your mind. The kind that attempts to ask the big questions of why things in political life are so backwards. He is a Berkeley level prof at East Bay.

This professor knows his stuff! easy to pass as long as you do the readings, which are not very hard at all either. I might fail the class but thats on me, I still think he's a very good teacher. His extra credit helps a lot too so take advantage of it since it can raise your grade by a whole.

He is clear and definitely knowledgeable. He knows how to teach. He grades fairly but does not treat students equally. I found he was very condescending when you answer a question wrong. But in terms of academics he's doing his job.

This is the best professor I have had in my 5+ years of college. He has an extreme depth of any and all topics taught in his courses, and always sets students up to succeed with powerpoints, strong lectures, extra credit and a syllabus that spells out the entire class. I will truly miss attending his lectures.

He is the most knowledgable of all the professors I've had at CSUEB. He really knows his stuff and teaches in a conceptual way. You need to pay attention to his lectures, and it's easy because he relates the mistakes of the past to current issues.

Tough class, tough professor. BUT fantastic course because you will learn a lot about Environmental Law and our government. Make sure that you're prepared for class. Do the readings, and take diligent notes during lectures. Don't expect a free ride like so many other courses at this school. Dr. Collins will make you think critically!

Super easy class if you are interested. I came to every class and read the assigned readings, so I found all the tests to be fairly easy. online quizes and a midterm and final exam. If you print out the online quizes then those are on the midterm and final along with information from the Powerpoints. Extra credit can bump grade up whole letter.

I also had this professor for POSC. 3280. You will learn an amazing amount of content about any course he teaches. Powerpoints, lectures and syllabus will spell out and explain all lessons and requirements. Very high-quality professor who gives you a lot to think about even when class is over.
