Do not take his class. Anybody who doesnt reach his writing expectations will probably fail. He doesnt give class half the semester and is terrible at one on one questions. He hands out a stack of papers you dont know what to look for. And no matter how hard you try he will find something to take points off of your assignment. Seriously,dont take

Less than one third of the class of 30 remained after drop date. That should tell you something. Don't waste your time. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! For the time and effort you will spend, you will barely learn anything (he barely teaches anything).

Do not take professor Dean, he is absolutely the worst professor you could every take. Anyone else is better than this guy. If you are even one minute late, he will not accept your paper and you will get a 0. He doesn't teach and often let's class out extremely early. I am serious, do not sign up for this guy's class, he is the worst!

Comment:

I understand being strict, but to be so arbitrarily punctual about things is unnecessary. This man didn't accept my research paper (25% of your grade, mind you) because I got to class ONE MINUTE late; and apart from taking such an insipidly tedious and class, you get a monotonous and strict teacher to top it all off. Would NOT recommend.

I would trade all of my most valuables to go back in time to never take this professor ever again. He assigns papers due in class, if you are ONE minute late, that's 10 points off the assignment. First week of class, 32 enrolled. 3/4's of the term, there are now 7 students. He gives a ton of unnecessary papers that pile up garbage. Doesn't teach.

I was supposed to transfer by the end of my 3rd year but his class delayed me by an entire semester. Every single period and comma, he sticks you up and you must really work for it. I tried really hard, I did, but I had to drop since he wanted the class to write an essay about a presidential constitution. Half of the class dropped and I did too.

He lectures too much and in the end you end up confused with what has to be done. He just hands over papers and end up flooded by them you dont know what to look for in them. And when you ask for help his response isnt clear, he tells you to refer to the handouts he has given

Late to his class means less than 10 minutes early, which he technically cant do as per Ohlone guidelines but that wont stop him from stopping class to ridicule you and take off points. He teaches very little but has a lot of group work. Final was an assigned group project/presentation with shared grades so if someone messed up we all got docked.

To be honest, I thought that his English class wasn't too hard. There is a lot of reading and writing that's done. However, if you take notes in class and follow instructions it should be easy to get an A if not a B. He will always give instructions and examples during class, so you need to show up.

If you're an avid writer, I recommend you take this class. He assigns four papers and a six-page research paper. He's a tough grader but generally gives great feedback. Can be rude when you reach out to him and even condescending; for this reason, many people dropped this class. He also cancels classes a lot... Don't really recommend.

Professor Dean is so incredibly pretentious. He isn't a good teacher and if you ask him for help don't expect to be helped. On top of the main essay, you will have to complete multiple other essays. I didn't learn anything at all this semester. DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS! It's NOT worth the time or money. If I could give him a 0 on here I would.

I do not recommend taking this class, he does not care about student success at all. He is a horrible teacher, constantly canceling class or letting class out early. It's like he just doesn't care at all. Do not take him at all, pick a teacher that cares. You'll learn more by self studying or picking a different professor. Drop this class asap.

Do yourself a favor and please dont join his class. Now it may seem my decision could be biased but near the end of the semester, everyone in my class dropped it and the whole class size was down to 8 people including me. That should tell you something. Just don't join that class.

Dean's a tough grader and criticizes the wrongness in your essays to the bone, but that only helps you improve. He hands out samples of the essays given, which should be followed to the core if one would want a B in the classto obtain an A, then the grammar would have to be perfect. He isn't particularly clear either if you ask for help during OH.

He is by far the worst English professor I had. Very strict on timeliness since he deducted 10 points from my paper just because I was a minute late. He's also a tough grader as well and has high expectations when it comes to papers and in-class essays. Definitely would not recommend this professor.

Dean is not my best professor at school. He always talks to me about my inappropriate behavior when class is dismissed on some days. It looks like he is mad at me, but he calm. Dean asks my class to do the essays in ink instead of pencils, and he also marks some students down after they make some big mistakes.

I would not recommend you to take Professor Dean, he is rude, condescending and overall just a horrible professor. He does not care for his students at all. if you are even a minute late, he will get mad at you. He does not help at all if you go to his office hours and he often cancels class or just lets out class early. Do NOT take his class.

Prof. Dean isn't an easy A teacher AT ALL. He is also extremely reliant on attendance. If you miss a class, you will be held back exponentially. However, he does give exceptional feedback. All of his tests are hard, but the feedback he gives ensures that you will get an A or at least a B.

He is a horrible professor, class started out with a full load of students and then it ended with like 10 students. That is how bad he is, he is absolutely horrible, I do not recommend taking his class. He is so strict and his assignments, even if you are like 1 minute late, he won't accept your paper. Seriously, avoid this professor at all costs!
