Worst class ever, only gave us 3 assignments that made up the entire grade. He told us that he had to be merciful for our papers cause they were horrible.. Had to curve our first exam cause half the class failed, and complaint about it saying he had made the test a "notch down" to what the course really is.. Just talks and talks, but you dont learn

I took this professor for contemporary global issues. He did not teach but rambled on about his personal life. He would tell the class not to worry about the exams or with reading the textbook. He said that 80% of the tests came from what he talked about. Nope. Be prepared to do all of your learning from the textbook. Grades 4 exams and 1 paper.

Dr. Ilgenfritz is one of my favorite professors I've ever had. My friends warned me about him, but I had a great experience taking his class. Attendance is mandatory and tests are about 90% lecture based. Hard work goes a really long way in his class. He does ramble during lectures but it's usually really interesting. Definitely knows his stuff.

Dr. Ilgenfritz is an absolutely brilliant man. I started the semester off a bit intimidated, but if you take the time to talk to him and ask him questions he's one of the most caring professors that you'll meet. Pay attention to lectures, copy down his diagrams, and read over the book in advance. You'll learn so much and gain new perspective.

Dr. Ilgenfritz is a very intelligent man. He knows what he is talking about, but it can be hard to pay attention to him. He often rambles and draws confusing diagrams on the board. While he grades on very few things, he is pretty reasonable when you meet with him. He was very understanding and kind to me when I struggled on his tests.

Dr Ilgenfritz does not teach but more so rambles. If you can decipher the ramblings however you will pass if you remember them on test day because that is 3/4 of your final grade on 3 tests.

Dr. Ilgenfritz is clearly dedicated to his studies and his job. He is straightforward during lectures but sometimes I needed to follow along with him in the textbook to understand more clearly. Everything in this class builds on the previous thing so it necessary to ask questions and understand before moving on successfully.

There's 3 exams and they're all based on notes. No point in getting the book or using online resources because he thinks "they're wrong, i'm right". His lectures make no sense sometimes, and usually don't have a structure to them. I wouldn't take him for this class again if i had the choice.

Dr. Ilgenfritz is an amazing professor. He's extremely intelligent and knowledgeable. Anyone who says his tests are hard simply don't want to be challenged and rather take the easy way out. He makes you WORK for your grades, which makes you truly learn the material he teaches. He's one of the best professors I've ever had.

By far the best professor I've had in college yet. He's difficult, but challenging. His lectures are, albeit very liberal, incredibly thought provoking. I would highly recommend this professor, despite what the other reviews say. Those who say otherwise probably just aren't as into history, and therefore had a harder time with the course.

This is the worst professor I've had in my four years at York. He takes a decent topic (Mid East) and makes it ungodly boring! He acts like he knows EVERYTHING! He pronounces some of the countries weird and it is really annoying and distracting. Everyone in my class hates it. If you can avoid it, DO NOT take this professor!!!

Incredibly inspirational prof. I've had him for two classes, Russia and Mid East. Second hardest multi-choice test I've ever taken, but fair. Great explanations and you learn even more when he goes off topic. Loves helping students understand the truth in every subject.

This prof has a great dry humor and knows EVERYTHING there is to know about Russia. I tried to stump him a few times to no avail. Recording his classes helped me greatly. His speaking ability is very good. He introduces material in a way that is interesting, when he tells you who he was just describing you feel like, "oh yeah, that makes sense.

Good class. I learned a lot. I would recommend recording his class. I'm glad I did. Very hard tests, just apply yourself and study. It is a hard class, I got a 3.5 but I really studied. He really likes class participation.
