Just the worst. Simply put. I took her class well over 4 years ago and came back to write this because she was so awful. I do not think we discussed a single reading assigned. I visited her during office hours to discuss a poor grade - she said I should have gotten a higher mark and did not change it or give any feedback.

Criteria is unclear and, in some cases, completely contradictory. Refuses to accept differing opinions, no matter how well they are argued. Grading seems completely haphazard. Made my semester stressful and miserable. Avoid at all costs.

She is a really engaging proff who is passionate about poetry.She likes to see students interested in the subject matter so participate if you can. I noticed a lot of the negative reviews come from first year students. ALL Eng 100 classes are hard. If you are struggling, talk to her and she will be more than willing to help you out.

After taking her class I thought about dropping Eng. as my major because I took one of my first upper level classes with her and it went horrible. After taking other upper level classes I realized it wasn't me but her. Her grading system would be okay if it made sense but grades reflect her mood and not your work.

just a bad prof who gives undeserving marks, i got 58 on my first essay rightfully so but we allowed to rewrite it and I made much much better yet got a lower mark than before... also the final was 4 essays which seems like she's tests us on how much we can write in an amount of time

If I pick worst 5 profs among 21 profs I experienced in UofR, she is doubtlessly on the top. She frequently cancels classes. And replaces them with useless outer lectures such as "how to use the library". Marks are so much subjective. She never accepts different views.

Before taking this class, I read the comments on this site and AFTER taking this class I want to say how wrong most people are. Cindy is knowledgeable, helpful, and sometimes rambles but has a sense of humour. I loved this class, and if you put in effort, you will do well. It's all about attitude, and if you want to write better, she can help you.

Horrible prof. From day one she picks favorites in the class, if you are not a favorite then you have no chance in passing the class. Walking into this class she mad a comment that most students wont pass, great way to boost you students desire for the class! I would advise taking this class from any other prof.
