I wouldnt take this professor again if you paid me. Class is extremely boring and he is super monotoned. He reformatted everything so now all of his tests are essays, tons of group projects. I felt like I was just teaching myself everything over to write an essay. Spare yourself, take it online or with someone else.

Maher was a great teacher mainly because of his love for Anthropology. It was a very interesting class and highly suggested. Expect to read a lot, about 15 pages/week, and then write a summary over it. Not hard though. Lots of easy quizzes if you attend the lecture. Should be an easy A if you pay attention and do the readings and quizzes.

Anthro was a super easy class but the lectures are boring. You don't actually need to come to class for the lectures if you read the book but attendance IS for a grade. I had an A all semester and forgot to sign the attendance sheet one day and it cost me the A. He gives 10 question quizzes every other class. Don't skip class and you will be fine.

I took this class online. You basically just read a chapter a week and submit all the vocab from that chapter as well as 4-6 paragraphs of what you learned throughout the reading. You have three papers to write after three chapters throughout the semester. He gives a guideline to follow. However, I found him very inconsistent with his grading.

Fair and understanding. His class lectures are always very interesting. If you show up for class, participate and read the assignments, then you will have no problems at all.

I will answer most of your questions: hardest but favorite professor. I have already graduated and I am yelling to students: take him! He is a real gem in an underrated college. Lazy students hate him; the only reason he is hard is because he makes you read too much. After a couple of weeks you'll get used to it and start enjoying the class!

Hes an awesome teacher. Reserves the book for you in the library, so don't sweat buying one. Lots of group projects but he grades each student individually.

He is awesome and brilliant. He really knows what he is talking about. This class is very interesting. The group projects weren't so bad. Those take the place of tests, so I preferred it. Only a few quizzes, but they are simple. HW isn't too bad, just read and take notes, and get an A for HW grade. The final isn't bad, just study! Very passable.

I loved Dr. Maher for his sense of humor and all of the stories he told in our Anthropology class. It was more of just story time than a class, but he made sure we learned as well (through readings and note-taking assignments). The group projects kind of sucked but they were easy to get A's on. The final was killer.. be prepared for that!

Amazing & brilliant. ALL group projects which isn't bad because those act as test basically. There's only quizzes when lots of people are absent. Notes: yes, he assigns notes as your homework but it isn't bad at all it might take you 15-20 min. If you miss a couple, its no prob bc he allows you to turn in 'additional notes' for extra credit.

he assigns notes and has given me a bad grade every time even though i complete them. In my opinion a person should not be graded on how they take notes if they understand the material. pretty frustrating

He is all about the group presentations. I got in bad groups who wouldn't help a few times, but as long as you email him about it he will be understanding. He does give a quiz when almost no one shows up so make sure you go. In my opinion, his lectures were very important if you want to pass. Also, each class he assigns a section to take notes on.

Professor Maher is definitely a teacher I would recommend for sociology. He knows what he is talking about, and explains it clearly. He doesn't believe in tests; You do presentations and two essays at the end, which he gives you a study guide the first day you walk in for them. He lets you miss five days w/o penalty. Would definitely recommend.

I had Dr. Maher for online sociology. He was a very fair grader on all the quizzes, tests and group projects. He is very into group projects but they are manageable even online, promise. He's kind of snappy over email but that was the only downfall.

He really knows what he's talking about so he doesn't settle for BS'ing your way through the class. He'll assign homework, but not pick it up, but have a pop quiz that's open note, so if you didn't do your homework, you're screwed. He's into group presentations & it sucks if your classmates don't care about it. He's an amusing, alright teacher.
