Totally awesome. One of the best professors at Mills. Totally nice guy. I can't believe he is accused of playing favorites. I think he treats everyone equally.

I've had Dan for 3 semesters. He's very funny and enjoys himself in class. Gives students opportunities to be creative and make decisions about how we are tested on material. Most important for him is that you learn something new -- and he's always challenging and encouraging his students to push past their immediate thoughts. <3 him!

I often left feeling more confused than when I came in, and I was always sure to voice my questions in class. The readings were all interesting yet I felt that more time should have been spent on some and less on others. Main tools I learned from class were writing and editing skills. I still feel that I have a lot to learn about the Soc Control

another love/hate relationship with Dan. resented him while i was his student, but deeply appreciate his effort to challenge me. yes, a maverick thinker, and yes, prone to favoritism. poorly organized but ultimately enriching classes. great if you have interest in social networks, mathematical modeling, org theory, behavioral econ.

Dan has been my professor for the last four semesters. I couldn't ask for a better teacher and mentor. He is not only extremely accessible, but he's really open minded and willing to listen to his students. I really cannot imagine my time at Mills without Dan. But, then again maybe I'm just part of the inner circle(LOL)!
