The most caring man I've ever met. Really cares about/loves photo and wants his students to also. If you listen and read, you'll learn A LOT. Only critique is that he's a hard grader. This is an intro class, so obviously we aren't great photographers yet. Everyone in my class has a B+. 5 small projects, final project, final portfolio. Take him!!!

Dan is the most knowledgeable photography teacher and he cares SOOO much about his students. He truly wants everyone to succeed, even if you suck at photography. He grades fairly, but you definitely have to put in the work for the projects because they get judged in front of the whole class.

Dan is an amazing professor, amazing artist, and an amazing person. He is SO kind and really wants to see everyone do well. Show him and the class respect, and you'll get nothing less in return. About a project per 2 weeks. Dan is a tough grader but is MORE than willing to talk and help you. Im minoring in photo because of him!

Dan is extremely passionate about his work and makes the class very interesting. One of the sweetest and most caring professors at Loyola, he is always smiling and laughing. If you have the privilege, take Prof. Schlapbach. He may grade a little rougher than some, but he truly is the best of the best. Always helpful and you will learn a ton.

After six semesters of having Dan, I still say he's my favorite prof at Loyola. He is very passionate about his work and gets you excited too. PT319 is a boring class, but Dan makes it interesting. He's amazing. Take any opportunity to have him!!

Dan is the best!! He is so helpful, after a while he makes you answer your own questions, but always makes himself available if you are really stuck. The class is so much fun too. I would take him just to have a great teacher and take a fun class.
