I only had him for First Year Experience, but he's a lovely person and very interesting to listen to. He's extremely kind and obviously cares for his students. Gives great feedback on papers.

Had him for Grammar, so was pretty dull, but I think he'd be more interesting in a different class. Very kind to students and randomly played guitar in class once. VERY high expectations on tests, though.

Dr. Brooks will work with you in many different ways. Very helpful if you respect his rules and ways. Gives extra time for assignments if you have shown him you care about class / respect him.

He has great taste in books! Lectures often ramble somewhat, and I wish there was more discussion as a class (lots of small group work isn't quite the same). He is a fair grader and very kind and accommodating. You learn a lot about the novels, history, and theory.

Comment:
Brooks is a very well-read instructor. He may ramble at times, but everything he says is relevant to text material. His lectures and discussions about the books that we had to read were very helpful when it came to answering essay questions and writing papers. Seems to grade fairly and is very personable. Overall, very good professor.

I always thought he was a little overrated. He seemed pompous and condescending to me. I had him for three classes and he was dull. I hated Grammar of Modern English

Very clear in what he wants and very into what he teaches. This Insignis section is something of an experiment, but he's done well with it. I'm only a freshman (long story as to how I got into Humanities,) and I'm getting an A. No complaints here! :D

Dr. Brooks is the bomb. The choice of texts is exciting, the class is always fun and he incorporates movies into the curriculum. This is one of the best English classes at Aquinas and definitely one of the best professors.

I agree with the previous note, he is an MLA Nazi, but he's helpful with papers. He allows you to turn them in early and he's willing to work with students outside of class. I really enjoy the diversity of his knowledge. Supposed he used to be a friar.

There is no escaping it, he IS an grizzly bear if you choose not to follow MLA format. In all other respects, the man is a teddy bear. He's one of the most compassionate professors on campus. He respects students regularly demonstrates his humanity.

Homework is reading, classwork is discussing the novels. Dr. Brooks provided a great deal of background information on assigned texts and grades an oral presentation, a research essay, and 2 tests. EZ!

I've never enjoyed reading so much as when I took his class. He's smart and funny, but he also knows how to relate to students. I especially enjoyed the projects we worked on for the novels we read. He challenged me to learn and I did.

Dr. Brooks seems like a very smart and well read individual. However, in class he tends to ramble. Book discussions seem to take huge detours away from the text, leading to an inadequate discussion of the texts. Going to class seems pointless some days.

Great prof. Treats students with respect and often interupts his thoughts to call on students who raise their hands. Learned a great deal about a number of texts and he's always willing to help outside of class. A-one prof!
