Great class if you are a genius. Otherwise avoid at all cost. Tests and quizzes are impossible. He requires lots of memorization of useless unnecessarily long theorems.

Professor Dean is a goofy guy but also like things a specific way. He grades tests and quizzes according to his own style. Don't let this scare you though, he gives practice quizzes and practice exams that are very similar to the real thing. If you have a good work ethic, you'll do fine. If you don't or you hate calc, take someone else!

People say he's tough, but that's not true. He literally gives you practice exams and quizzes exactly like the ones he uses. He's also hilarious and he's always available in office hours.

Not a bad professor. Definitely likes for you to do things his way or else points get taken off. However, he curves every quiz and test, and always gives out practice quizzes that are very similar to the real quizzes. Cares about his students and is always willing to help during office hours.

Mr. Dean the failing machine, I was so excited to be finished with his class. It was the hardest class this past semester. His tests are most of the time guaranteed to be 5-6 pages long. He gives about 10 "bonus points" because he is fairly certain most in the class won't finish on time. He is helpful during office hours though. Take someone else!

The smiling assassin... Dean the failing machine. I'm sure you've heard it all by now. Here's some helpful tips: don't skip class or else you won't know what he said in class through the notes. Write down steps that he does for specific things like proofs. Work in groups every chance you get with MMA and the take home quizzes. Go to him for help.

Extremely nice guy..very helpful in office, and overall great teacher. However, his tests and quizzes are HARD. Unless really good at math, you'll have to work VERY VERY hard to maintain a B or A. Sometimes keeps class a few min late. Offers generous curves.

His tests are difficult, but I managed to do alright because he explained almost everything in class. In order to succeed in this class you must do the practice quizzes and exams. Those prepare you well enough to know what concepts are on those assignments. I prefer Dean over Michael Jackson because Dean DOES NOT assign required homework.

I took Calc I in HS and still had some difficulty in this class. Dean can be difficult to understand at times.Lots of snarky feedback on tests.Seems to make everything unnecessarily complicated. EXTREMELY helpful in office hours, especially with MMA. Late to class and keeps class late almost every day. Do any kind of practice quiz or test he gives.

I took Calc beforehand, but still managed to drown in Deans class. He tries to take points off instead of giving them. Dean seems nice, but in reality his favorite hobby is playing golf with souls and failing students. Anybody who enjoys him as a teacher needs to get off their knees and start breathing. Id rather walk on glass than take this class.

Dean is by far the worst teacher i have ever had. I felt like i learned the material and had a grasp on the material but still got a D in the class. Grades rediculously hard. Does curve a little but but unless you are a math genius stay away

Definitely one of the worst professors I've ever had. I had already taken (college) Calc 2 before going into his Calc 2 class, and had to fight to keep a B. Very inconsistent grading, picky about useless details, and NEVER ends on time. Seems to enjoy seeing his students fail, and makes no effort to make Calc understandable. Avoid Dean if you can!

Mr. Dean is the coolest teacher around. The only people that don't like him are the dorks that want to just cruise through and have a degree handed to them without having to work for it. Last time I checked this is COLLEGE MATH!! Its supposed to be hard

Dean is very unhelpful, and very very difficult to understand unless you're an absolute genius. He tells insulting jokes, and works on grading and lesson planning during church. He laughs at students on a regular basis. His homework assignments are ridiculous, and his grading is unnecessarily harsh and VERY inconsistent. He always ends class late.

He's not the best and he is rather difficult, but he's not nearly as bad as people are making him out to be. He's very helpful in office hours.
