While he is pretty clear about what will be on the test, the way they're written and the wording he uses is nowhere close to what he actually says in class. He talks about random things most of the class, but make sure you can handle the calculator and you'll be okay. Left me totally unprepared for the final

I didn't do very well on most of his exams but I passed the class with a B. To earn that letter grade I went to his office hours for help and made sure I did all of the Connect homework online as well as the Stock Project.

Singer knows his stuff. He is not great at teaching. His exams are tough but do your homework, and the stock track and you will pass. Final is made by department which is actually impossible. But he's a nice guy and will help if you need it.

He lost a student's exam and gave him a zero! He couldn't figure out any of the hw problems he gave. One of our tests had over 10 problems that had no right answer, and he just gave credit to what he felt was "most correct" ...which is awesome with MATH tests. And yes he curves SOMETIMES and it has nothing to do with the class average. AWFUL!!!

Comment:
Take it easy people- Singer's inconsistencies are largely because he is an Economist not an Accountant (which is how to book is written) I had a lot of background knowledge going into the class so if you want to succeed remember your intro to macro/micro plus statistics- this is how Singer delivers his lectures. Many people don't so they fail.

This has got to be one of the worst professors ever! Extremely lazy, gives assignments but doesn't grade them nor return them back to students. He only teaches concepts he's good at and not what's recommended for the students to know. He deviates significantly from teaching the topics from the textbook.Only wanting to teach what "HE" knows.

His class did not exactly deal with too much learning. Everything was based off internet questions that he spent time in class telling us how to answer. But if you read the text and do the problems, it's not really all that hard. He's not the best. He made many mistakes but he was at least somewhat entertaining.

I shouldve listened to the reviews. He talks about real world stocks for the entire class. Tells you to study the homework for exams when they're nothing like it. Expects you to do 30 finance problems in 50 minutes for tests and then tells the class the questions didnt have the correct answer choices. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. DONT BE LIKE ME.

Terrible. Just terrible. Doesn't tell you what is on the final at all. Test are nothing like the study guide he gives. I could have missed every class and still had the same grade. Should be teaching high school finance. BTW I have a B or C in the class.

Any intelligent teacher would split them in half.please do not take him u will regret :(

I was really looking forward to this class & wish I would have taken it with someone else. Lectures were incoherent,he constantly made mistakes with excel & calc. Grading on the tests was error filled but it didn't matter because curves were huge. I learned very little & am so disappointed. One of the worst profs I've ever had.

Took it online for the UBALT mba. 40% of the grade was for weekly essays, 40% for very easy hw and 20% for a final exam (or essay, students can pick). Prof gives a lot of feedback and grades fairly. Responds to email very fast. Def. recommand this course!

Good teacher, really liked his class. Teaches practical applications of finance and not just according to the book. Thought the tests were pretty straight-forward, just need to think a little bit about the using the skills learned. Pretty funny guy.

Lectures are boring and tests are hard. Jumps around a lot and only repeats things you really don't need to know. Makes up for not knowing how to teach by putting huge curves on everything. I got a 63 on the second test and still got an A on it because the curve was so huge. I haven't learned anything.

Don't Take him!! Please* Please* Please* don't take him! His Lecture's are boring. He keeps talking about "real" events involving Finance, that's great and all but we want to learn the numbers. Class is a waste of time. Exams are impossible, he curves but not enough. All i can tell you is that your SOFL* if he's your last resort

He's actually a pretty cool guy. He makes some pretty crude comments, and his jokes are lame but if you go to him for help HE WILL HELP YOU! He tries to make learning easier. And if you read the book, do the homework, and go to class and ask questions...you'll be fine.
