I tried so hard to enjoy this class, but Pierce made it impossible. He's not a bad guy, but his teaching style is unclear and unhelpful. If you don't ask about 15 clarifying questions about each assignment, you will not know what is going on or when things are due. The reading isn't difficult, and the topics make sense and were interesting.

Great guy, knows a lot about rhetoric, probably the most sporadic methods of teachings I've ever had. You won't regret experiencing a Pierce lecture.

Dr. Pierce is a competent and great professor. There is work to be done in his class. there maybe times where the lecture seems ambiguous and vague, but I think of it as a challenge to us. He challenges us to already know things. His test are a pretty straight forward. But I really have to stick up for Dr. Pierce

Hands down, the worst professor on campus. The work load is astronomical compared to other CST107 sections, and he will do anything in his power to grade you down. I went in to his office hours 13 time for one speech, and got a C-. You'd be lucky to pass this class. DO. NOT. TAKE.

Ironically he is a poor communicator for a communications professor. I have learned nothing in his class. We do very few speeches--so if you are someone looking to truly improve your skills DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!! The activities are pointless and disjointed. I have asked for examples and am still confused. Waste of time!

Pierce is unintelligible during lecture. Relies heavily on detail from readings. Will not give an A. Does terrible things only to make himself look better when he says, "oh, never mind I'll be nice and not make you do that assignment". He told me to join speech & debate because I was talented, then gave me a C on a speech. DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS.

I've never had a professor who's so terrible at explaining anything. No one ever knows what he's asking for, and even when we ask for clarification, we still walk away scratching our heads. This class is also the epitome of busy work and I wish I didn't have to look back saying, "what a waste of time." Unfortunately, that's what's happened.

Don't even bother going to class, it's a complete waste of time. The entire class WAS a "guess what I'm thinking game" and he always wasted time with stupidity saying "you have 15 mins to get a newspaper", "3.5 minutes to share your opinion"...nobody could take him seriously. He wrote a textbook, so you would think he's smart but I didnt see that.

Pierce is competent and practiced, if you have the chance, watch a presentation of his outside of class, he knows what he's doing. He goes over in class what elements help him present like that. These concepts are pretty vague, so the tests can be confusing. All in all, there is a lot to learn from him, and I'm glad I was in his class.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! This was my 3rd class with Pierce and I was really excited about it (my previous experiences with him were ok). But Intro to Ad is TONS of unnecessary and frustrating busy work & pointless class activities that have nothing to do with the material. WORST CLASS EVER! Saddest part: I worked my butt off & didnt learn a thing!

This guy is just crazy. Nice but off the wall. If you like assignments that are very time consuming take him. HE WANTS TO MAKE YOU WORK HARD! He makes his class like an ad firm and will change assignments days before they are do and all your work is then useless and have to start all over agin. Some people love him, I hate him.
