Comment:
He's a very intimidating prof. I was scared to ask him questions and every class I was worried he would call on me to answer a question that I knew I wouldn't know the answer to. I would never take another class with him. He knows his stuff, but he's scary.

I took this distance. There is a tremendous amount of material; you are responsible for class lectures, supplemental text and the text book. There are no papers, 2 10% quizzes, 1 20% midterm, 1 25% midterm and a final exam worth 35%. ALL of his test questions are short answer requiring remembering many details. He is not for the faint of heart!

Very funny, great course but extremely hard tests and marking! You really have to absorb the material to do well. Awesome prof though... always felt like I left the class smarter than when I went in!

Good Prof - brutal class. Took it distance as a second part of Child Development, he was good in terms of giving examples and explaining himself, but the course was very high maintenance compared to the first half, which I took with a different Prof. Overall very educational class, I actually feel like I learned something, but also very meticulou

Took this class DE, very boring content, difficult to hear questions being asked by students on the video. Did not return my emails about the final project, I later failed the project because he did not help me. Midterms and exams are short answer and quite difficult. I would not recommend this teacher (or the class!)

First class I've ever failed! and it wasn't for lack of trying...he is impossible to get in touch with for extra help, I ended up having to go to a different prof to get help with his course...if at all possible, avoid this professor!

Impossible to get ahold of, and when you do get ahold of him, he always shows up late. He expects far too much, without clear expectations or realistic requests. His mid terms and exams are short answer and difficult. Hands down the worst professor I have ever had. He is more interested in his personal research then teaching his psychology courses

He is a good prof. and keeps the mood light. He is hard to pin down to get help from. His midterms and finals are cruel. X short answer questions all of which are application of what you learned and you have to do at least 75% of them. NO multiple choice from this guy.

Outstanding! This class has totally changed the way I view the world. I no longer take information at face value, rather I consider the source and evaluate things from an empirical perspective. Dr. Furrow treats us like adults-responsible and intelligent. Mount psychology has a few good professors who make sure you learn by doing. He is the best!

Comment:
This class makes psychology into such a competitive field it just shows quite reasonably there is NO POINT to get a degree in psychology at all unless you want to be (least seriously of all) unemployed but generally thought of as not very clever by the general public on top of it. This class should be modified/eliminated and the teacher replaced.

I hated Mount Saint Vincent University with such a passion that I am glad to have been able to left it alive. My parents forced me to stay in Nova Scotia to go to school where I was really unhappy and that affected the way this university treated me needing special services. So I hope Halifax and the Mount will one day cease to exist.

Dr. Furrow RULES! He is a very very very demanding prof and if you aren't looking to do your graduate studies I suggest taking research methods at another school, but Dr. Furrow cares about your grade and he always has time to visit with students!! AWESOME

An inbetween is the best rating for him - his personality is not quite friendly - he is scary- rather arrogant, strict and tough. He overlooks students as dumb who are not and hes a big guy in here (the last rater, as he mentioned the PhD from Yale yet one of my cousins did his PhD at Cambridge - even more prestigious and is even bigger and better.

He is very highly intelligent, almost so much to the point when it is difficult to communicate with him. He has a PhD from Yale that gets my respect. So does, MIT, Princeton and Harvard. However, I am still somewhat prejudiced towards PhD's from Oxford and Cambridge. I must admit that I am, maybe,... slightly favor those English to American ones...
