I took many of Dr. Kitchen's WLDF classes. I was not in conclave or anything. I received straight A's in his classes. He was very fair. I worked hard and paid attention. I asked Dr. Kitchen to become my advisor, and he was always there to help, especially if I called and made an appointment during busy times.

Alas...i shall be one of the few to give good comments. I am not a favorite by any means. You want to do well on his tests, look on moodle,read the book, he does test on it. Basically, know all his slides, all i do is memorize the main points and definitions, and i get a's on his tests. He doesnt make himself available for help. the papers=b*tch

Dr. K's teaching is unclear and he is not helpful. Treats WLDF301 as if everyone is a wildlife major even though it is an open GE with no prereq. Don't take WLDF301 if you aren't a wildlife major and if you actually want to learn something about ecology. Forget about getting a good grade if you aren't one of his favorites.

If you want to learn how to take a test from him and learn what the prof wants to hear, then this is the class for you. if you want to learn about ecology then read the book and plan on taking another ecology class. as far as him explaining math concepts...the damage he does to your understanding is not permanent.

Dr K plays major favorites so if you are in conclave and kiss up, life is great. He is, however very unfair in his grading. I had an A and after the final, I had a C+ (I had a notecard w/ all of the final questions on it and so I know I did well!) My grade still ended up a C+ and when asked, Dr K claims he threw the finals out..Unfair and wrong!

I never liked this guy personally or as he related to the classes I took from him. He's egotistical, unwilling to listen to any other opinion seriously, and his tests are WAY too hard. Go to the library and look at his old tests--he just reuses the questions.
