Honestly hated taking this class. He mainly used power point and would talk about stuff not related to what was on the PowerPoint. He would often go off topic from what hes talking about which messed things up.

Very knowledgeable and willing to help but is SO condescending. Expects you to remember everything for the exam but then asks obscure questions from the lecture that is so hard to pay attention too... He's a very intelligent man, but teachers need to be more than just a big headed encyclopedia. If you have 3 or more courses, flee for your sanity!

The course was definitely tough but he does help you if you put in effort. My class did not do well on our mid term but he offered us the chance to earn extra marks added to our midterm mark which was very beneficial. be sure look at the textbook and study definitions.

Knowledgeable professor and can help out a bit after class. Expects students to remember an unholy amount of information. Lectures are extremely dry so bring a coffee. Also doesn't seem to understand that most of his students are not geology majors/taking other classes. Very challenging for an introductory class. Take another science if you can.

Solid prof. Lectures are boring but the tests are only on the lecture material so if you study the slides it's easy. Definitely go to the lectures where he talks about the tests cause he gives a few solid hints of what to not bother studying. Overall just a pretty chill dude.

Worst prof i've ever had. Lectures are dry and boring as all heck. He doesn't understand that his students have other classes and can't memorize the whole textbook. He's as condescending as can be, and doesnt let his students finish their questions before he deems them as dumb. Completely awful. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Narrow marker. Seems to only accept what he believes in, even though your answer is backed by evidence.

Who knew an oceanography professor could be so dry!? If his lengthy lectures on plate tectonics don't get through to you, don't worry--It's not your fault.

Dave's oceanography lectures are a tidal bore. He fails to update the class website with lecture slides/assignment outlines and is only minimally invested in his students. Not worth the confusion and hassle, take a different science. TL;DR: Great Oceanographer, poor teacher.

Dave's a decent professor, lenient at times. His lectures are SUPER BORING, I fell asleep a few times. No visual/video aids, minimal items on slide show and mostly talks so don't miss a lecture or you're lost. DO ALL LABS they're worth a lot and they are tedious. (labs marked by lab instructor, not Dave) Dave is always willing to help you do better

He's... Okay. Generally a nice guy but was a bit rude to me on one or two occasions. He made an error when marking one of my quizzes and wouldn't fix it. Lectures are boring as hell. My god. Labs are tedious and he marks them. DO ALL LABS. He is quick to stay after class and help though, so I give him credit for that. All in all, middle of the road

Great professor! Doesn't waste time, gives clear instructions and feedback. He is super helpful and willing to work with you if you do badly on the midterm. Tests are challenging, but if you attend his review class he will tell you exactly how to prepare for them. If you do badly, it is because you can't follow simple instructions or are lazy.

Wasn't a big fan my first sem with him but I had him for another course and I really liked him. If you show interest in the course he'll like you and will be very nice to you. He'll do whatever he can to help you. Midterms are harder than finals.

one of the best instructors i've had. expects you to work hard to deserve your grade, just as college/university should be! helpful, considerate and funny. passionate about what he does and is enjoyable to listen to his stories!! he has obviously worked hard and expects the same from his students.. Definitly RECOMMEND his class'.

If you get him for a lab, if he can, he will stay behind for hours just to help you. Very friendly and easy to ask questions to. His lectures may be tedious sometimes, but they are helpful, and from time to time, you will be let out an hour early. The exams are hard. Write everything you can, and leave no detail out.

nice enough guy, goes through long boring lectures of reading his own slides and expects you to know all of it. Often mentions how its a first year course and should be easy until he marks your work or gives out a test. Very hard marker, no room for error, and even harder tests. Doesn't understand when people are confused and makes you feel 'dumb'

Dave is possibly my favorite teacher at Douglas. Having completed 5 semesters, I've had a lot of them. Dave is a really good teacher if you are a good student. If you are just looking to drift through school then you shouldn't be taking science courses. He`s fair, funny, has loads of stories and his classes are interesting if you`re interested.

He may be a great guy outside of class who does great things for the earth.. but damn his classes were boring and extremely painful. I skipped as many as i could before i started loosing marks. Monotone voice, tells irrelevant tree hugging stories, fair marker. Maybe i am biased because i hated the course.. but his teaching was boring zzzzzzz
